I HAVE A SERGIO MENDES ALBUM FROM THE LATE 60`s . WHEN HIS BAND WAS NAMED "Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66" BUT IT`s ON VINYL AND I HAVE`nt GOT ANYTHING TO PLAY IT ON NOW. SO WHEN THIS WAS LISTED IN THE 3 C.D`s FOR £10 SECTION I THOUGHT I WOULD BUY IT TO BRING BACK OLD MEMORIES. I AM PLEASED I DID. HIS MUSIC BRINGS THE SUN OUT EVEN IF IT`s RAINING. SO MUCH OF HIS MUSIC IS USED AS BACKING TRACKS BY T.V ADVERTISERS & PROGRAM MAKERS,
THAT HIS MUSIC IS THOUGHT TO BE COOL AGAIN. THIS C.D HAS ALL HIS GREAT MUSIC ON.
JUST LISTEN TO THE FIRST TRACK `Mas Que Nada` IT`s WORTH BUYING THIS C.D JUST FOR THAT.THEN LISTEN TO HIS INTERPRETATION ON BEATLES CLASSICS LIKE `DAY TRIPPER / NORWEGIAN WOOD / FOOL ON THE HILL / WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM ... Read More:

Mendes's "Fool on the Hill" was one of the first albums that this then fifteen-year-old bought with his allowance. Thus began an almost forty-year love affair with the Brazilian's sound. One can't imagine my excitement when I learned of the release of "Timeless," his first album of new music in over a decade.
And what an album it is!!! The disc is an outstanding blend of the old and the new, with cuts to satisfy the contemporary crowd as well as those of us with nostalgia of the soul.
Though the album features guest performances from the likes of Justin Timberlake to Jill Scott to John Legend, the best cuts are those that harkens back to the cool 1960's, adding a new dimension with rap and modern rhythms. The revisit ... Read More:

Two years ago Sergio Mendes came back into the mainstream with the Grammy-winning "Timeless" co-produced by wil.i.am with songs featuring Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott, John Legend, Justin Timberlake and several other international stars. That album, by virtue of its all-star pop line-up and co-producer had a more hip-hop "flava" to it.
Though wil.i.am returns on "Encanto," most of the new album sounds remarkably like Mendes's classic albums from the 60's and 70's with updated technology. It's like a trip back in time when Brasil '66 was heating up the pop charts.
Ledisi, Carlinhos Brown, Jovanotti, Juanes, Gracinha Leporace, and Vanessa da Mata, along with Siedah Garrett, Natalie Cole and wil.i.am possess the ... Read More:

If you are not so sure about Bossa Nova music, then I can recommend this album for the Ice Cool versions it present of Mas Que Nada, Wichita Lineman, the Beatles songs and especially Scarborough Fair. They are stunning!
Release Date May 25, 1992
I cannot add any more superlatives to the ones that have already been given to this Grammy-winning album. It is a release that never falters; every cut is worthy of inclusion.
Being a forty-year fan of Sergio Mendes has given me a slightly bent bias toward him and everything that he has done. The current crop of popular Latin artists needs to give credit to this trailblazer and master musician.
I'm glad that new musicians, like Will.i.am are discovering Mendes's sound and bringing him again to the masses.
Release Date September 25, 2006
A superb introduction to the mellow bossa nova inspired swing of Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66. This is classic sixties easy listening, by turns cheesy, delightfully innocent and dynamic. And does it swing - from the massive hit Mas Que Nada (well known to footie fans amongst others) to a cool cover of the Beatles' Day Tripper via such smooth Brasilian flavoured treats as Agua de Beber and O Pato. It's thrilling stuff and some of the most glorious latin pop of the era.

This album is an excellent introduction to the utterly fresh melodies of Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66. The atmosphere is light and summery, the feeling is sun-drenched and somewhere between sweet lovelorn melancholy and joyful knowing delight. Rock music it ain't, but that's no bad thing in itself! This music is perfect morning music, there is such a feeling of optimism and delight at the world.
This collection features songs from some of Mendes' best albums (especially "Equinox", a personal favourite), with "Mais Que Nada" probably best known in the UK through its use in an advert a few years back. There are also a large selection of their covers, such as "Scarborough Fair" and "With A Little Help From My Friends" which while helpful ... Read More:

This re-issue is a compilation of two distinct albums of Mendes's releases from the 1970's. The first ten songs come from the musician/arranger's self-titled album, an homage to songs made famous by others. Three songs written by Stevie Wonder ("All in Love is Fair," "I Believe When I Fall in Love It Will Be Forever," and "Lookin' for Another Pure Love") are featured, along with George Harrison's "Here Comes the Sun". The compositions of Thom Bell and Linda Creed (of Philadelphia sound fame) are reflected in the cover of "Let Them Work it Out".
The best cuts are the remake of Donnie Hathaway's classic "Someday We'll All Be Free" and "The Trouble With Hello is Goodbye," a song reminiscent of Mendes's earlier "When Summer Turns to Snow" ... Read More:
