This is quo at its best - tracks like backwater and just take me out rival punk and quite frankly many modern bands. The remastering is excellent - rossi and coughlan up in the mix. 5/5

I originally bought this album on vinyl in the early eighties and always thought that it was very good. If you are a hard rock or metal fan then this is the era of Quo that you want to hear with the more raw and brash sound along with bassist Alan Lancaster providing some of the vocals too which all helped give them a definite undiluted hard rock sound back then.

Since being into this album as a kid some 25 years ago I`ve been through the musical mill being into Metal ,House , Thrash , death metal , hardcore , cybermetal , Trance , goth metal , Nu-metal , metalcore etc and currently my fave bands apart from my own are Opeth Onslaught and Children of Bodom !

XS All Areas - The Greatest Hits

What a terrible waste! Quo have had 39 top 20 hits but only 25 are presented here on a 40-track double CD. So, what is the rest? Album tracks and not-so hits. Nothing is in some kind of order so it is a meandering ramble through nearly 40 years of great music. Most of the music is good of course, but minus several points for the awful 'Fun fun fun'. That and others like 'When you walk in the room' should be quietly deleted from the band's history. There is plenty more to feel good about (again, 39 top 20 hits).

So stick to '12 Gold bars' both volumes or the 1997 compilation which although out of date is better (albeit not perfect).

On The Level (VINYL) [VINYL]

There are certainly classic tracks here, but for me this album is a bit of a disappointment after the awesome "Piledriver", "Hello" and "Quo" albums.

The standout tracks are Little Lady / Most of the Time, Down Down and Bye Bye Johnny. The remastered sound gives them even more oomph than my old trusty vinyl copy.

I find the other tracks a bit too samey and lacking in energy. Personal taste I know. They peaked again nicely for the "Blue for You" album, and then lost me again until "Just Supposin'".

In Search of the Fourth Chord

6th in Classic Rock Albums of the year. Best thing the boys done in ages. Sounds like they had a ball. Up there with the best of their 70's stuff. Every track rocks like a good 'un.

Hello

Quite simply this is one of the best albums ever done by the Quo.Every song is excellent,remastering excellent,guitar tones and sound excellent the whole album is EXCELLENT.The songs move along at a brisk pace and all in all I can honestly say Hello is a hum dinger of a album,the band wouldnt find it easy in later works to match this benchmark sound of this astonishing work.
If you dond have this album and youre thinking of buying some Quo albums then I suggest this one first followed by the albums Quo,Whatever you Want and Dog Of Two Heads you wont go wrong.Hope this review has helped you in some way.Keep Rocking.

Blue For You

Blue for You originally came out in 1976 and it was the final album in the quintet of early to mid `70s Quo albums that was released on Vertigo and that were all most definitely from the makers of... Beginning with Piledriver these albums more than anything else established Quo's reputation as true rock giants and by the time Blue for You appeared they had an army of fans, the Quo Army no less. Never Too Late

Never Too Late was the last album to be made by Status Quo before both personal and musical problems set in - drummer John Coghlan left in less than amicable circumstances during the making of 1+9+8+2.

Looking back, that is a real shame, because these now often talked about problems seem to overshadow the actual album - which is yet another top class effort.

Indeed, as an album Never Too Late seems to be overlooked by a lot of fans nowadays. Personally, I believe is a very underrated release, with many top drawer songs on it!

With the quality of the tunes on offer here, not for the first time I find myself puzzled as to why only one single was ever released from the album: ('Something Bout You Baby I Like' became another top 10 hit for Quo)

Piledriver

I saw Status quo on TV a year ago for the first time at the Concert for Princess Diana and I loved their performance. I had never even heard of them before (I live in Canada and they're not so well known over here)! I checked them out on Youtube and found a ton of their songs that I really liked. And was surprised to know that they never had any North American success but are actually one of the most successful UK acts of all time! I tried looking for their CDs at the local record store but I couldn't find anything. This got me to look on Amazon where I bought their albums "12 Gold Bars", this Piledriver album, On the Level, and the outstanding live album, "Live!" All were really solid and full of great songs. Whatever You Want

This is one of the beat albums that the band have released during there long and illustrous careers.The album rocks along at a fanatic pace,every song is strong and the remastering sounds excellent.The band listened to there fans and Whatever You Want was the outcome much to the fans pleasure.The band went bach to basics for this album and turned out this hum dinger of thumping twelve bar boogie and without doubt in my meagre opinion I would class it in there top four albums by them, other ones being;Dog Of Two Heads,Hello and the album Quo.If you like the no nonsence sound of the Quo you need to purchase Whatever You Want and play very loud and practice your guitar work on your tennis raquet.Hope this review helps you in some way.Keep rocking.
