Quite simply one of the best albums ever. Each track is distinctive, keeps you rocking, Kelly's voice is amazsing. Great lyrcis, great music, buy it!
Release Date November 26, 2001
Like the previous reviewer I was appalled at the number of five star reviews for this album and had to set the record straight. If you look up 'soporific' in the dictionary you will see a picture of this album. Truly Stereophonics blandest album, this should be the very LAST album of theirs you should buy. This album will send you to sleep faster than a Dido album on repeat play. I would compare it to 'Be Here Now' by Oasis, except that Be Here Now was a lot more fun.
Apart from 'Handbags and Gladrags', which is a fine cover of a fine song, the songs on offer here are really too dull for words. 'Mr Writer' is a good sentiment and an okay song, but even that one plods along so slowly it feels like the sonic equivalent of trying to swim ... Read More:

I love this band, partly because each of their albums is so different and they constantly evolve and yet remain unmistakably the 'Phonics. Word Gets Around and Performance & Cocktails have been their best albums for a long time...until now. Pull the Pin is right up there. Having not heard any of the songs (yes, I live under a rock) beforehand, I was a bit worried about ordering this album after LSVO? (Dakota was really the only good song on that very lazy album). I needn't have worried...I loved Pull the Pin on the first listen.
Yes, it's sad that Stuart got sacked, but Javier is a lightyears more talented drummer...he's excellent and really drives the music whilst throwing in some killer whatever-drumming-bits-are-called (are they ... Read More:

i grew up in the next village to these boys and their first album is annd always will be,there on my top five must haves. like so many othere one-hit wonders, they have proved over the years that they peaked with the first absolutely magic album , and then the rot set in. this album no longer is filled with creative lyrics and must listen to riffs, other than bartender and takes clothes off. this is just dross and fluff for fans who know no better to listen to and pretend they love it. sorry boys , its time to let it go now before the real damage to your reputations is done.
Release Date March 14, 2005
I absolutely love the Phonics, but not this album. Described by many critics as a return to form after the turgid effort You Gotta Go There To Come Back. Far from it! All albums before Language. Sex. Violence. Other? are solid classics, never far from my stereo. This album though i find virtually unlistenable. Its just a lazy mechanical chugg along. Dakota being the one exception. A song good enough to pull the wool over the critics eyes. P.s. You Gotta Go There... is my favourite Phonics album.
Release Date February 16, 2004
'My favourite albums ever' contains around 200 albums so don't be suprised that this is up there. Well lets get down to it, it's a stunning album unlike their 3rd there's no filler and just great music. Classics from start to finish and definately the 'phonics album to listen too, if you want to get the feel of them. Trouble is that hardcore phonics fans seem to think they were going off their origional sound with this album. yes they definately are but its a better sound in my opinion In my opinion their other albums aren't so much a deal as this. Buy it now. Then buy 'Just enough education to perform' and then buy Language.sex.violence.other.
Release Date April 03, 2006
When you first listen to the album, you are confronted with an awesome introductory track of 'Superman' that is arguably better than their studio version. Throughout the live album you hear there best songs performed live to a fantastic level.
A must for Phonics fans, and for any music lover - especially those who understand and appreciate excellent live performances. It is excellent value for money and comes on two discs - brilliant.
Release Date April 09, 2001
Stereophonics have a knack of performing to anyone but their peers. They know the art of conversation and when it's best to say nothing. Whether it's staring at someone in a jail cell or laughing at themselves in the same position -Maybe- they are cutting edge rock with an Alien twist. Just don't try too hard to swallow Vegas Two Times and have a nice day. Thinking of you, dude.
Release Date June 02, 2003
This phonics installment takes them in a completely different direction from their last 3 rock based albums. with a slower tempo and more acoustic feel, it would not even be far-fetched to call this a 'blues' record.
Yet despite initial reservations and granted it took me a while to warm to this album, i definately like it now.
Ive never thought the phonics have been able to match the standard they set themselves with 'word gets around' (their debut album) and this is by no means in that league, but then again its probably the first album they've released post WGA that doesn't really try to be. madame helga is a more traditional offering from the phonics but other than that tunes such as 'maybe tommorrow' epitimise the record. This is definately Kelly Jones' ... Read More:

This song HAS to be one of the sweetest 'phonics songs on any of the albums, everytime I hear it I just wanna cry. Kelly Jones' voice is so haunting and sad.....he feels what he's singing..........it's just gorgeous!
