This is a superb collection from the late Texas Genius. Buy this album if you like guitar brilliance, when you hear it you seriously wonder if there was anyone better.

This was the srv & dt cd i bought and i was so blown away i imediately bought another of their cds.
Srv's Playing ability is flawless, he never misses a note man!
It's goes Jimi no.1 Stevie no.2, no doubt about it!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan's latest CD release includes six previously unreleased live tracks as well as eight already released tracks.
This is the second album from him that I buy since "The Sky Is Crying."
As SRV was always wont to play with other artists, I bought this CD to gain a broader view of his work. This album highlights recordings where SRV was either a guest or a sideman. This album does not focus on Stevie Ray Vaughan's music, but rather on Stevie Ray Vaughan's musicianship. It also displays the great versatility of SRV.
After hearing what is on offer here, I can assure you that his record label is definitely not scrapping the bottom of the barrel.
The album starts with "The Sky Is Crying", the ... Read More:

I'd never bought anything before purely 'cause Amazon recommended it. I'd always heard some of the stuff by the artist or seen them on TV somewhere. I was oblivious to SRV though so I popped it on my 'Wish List' while I mulled over the pros and cons. All of the reviews were very positive drawing comparisons to Hendrix. I was curious and attracted to this man described as a seminal blues guitar hero so I summoned up the courage and added it to an order to make up my £15 for free delivery.
What a treat! Deep southern blues done with sincerity and affection. Innovative and fluid guitar work, beautiful rich tones, solid riffs. It's very much a one man band, bass and drums add squat, but what a man. The bonus live tracks are great too and, once you're ... Read More:

To begin with this CD is an excellent quality recording of master and apprentice playing some stunning songs. It really gives insight into how SRV took and developed Albert's sound, the King even goes as far to say "That sounds familier", as SRV plays a King inspired lick. The dialogue inbetween tracks is also extremely interesting and it comes across as a handing over ceremony from one blues generation to the next with Albert instructing Stevie to work hard and take the sound somewhere else. A riveting CD, buy now!

This is perhaps SRV's best album. The opening 'Say What!' is the greatest blues-playing ever, and, believe it or not, it was recorded and played live using a wah-pedal that his elder brother, Jimmie Vaughan, got from Jimi Hendrix when he was supporting him in the sixties. Other highlights include the amazing slow-blues of 'Ain't Gone N' Give Up On Love' (which becomes an unbelievably quick blues that would take Steve Vai's breath away when played live. 'Change It' is a great cover of an old blues song, with a great solo. Earl King's 'Come On (Part 3)' is played like the Hendrix version, and whilst Jimi got the better of him here, his cover of 'Little Wing' (one of the bonus tracks) is way better. The closing four-minute guitar solo is too good to be real, and includes some ... Read More:

SRV and Double Trouble's final recording is a fitting footnote to a career which would end in a tragic helicopter crash the following year. It's ironic; In Step catches Stevie at his most vital; alive and thankful for the chance he'd been given following years of drug and alcohol abuse. The optimistic tone and fiery licks are showcased in tracks such as "Crossfire" and "Tightrope" and Buddy Guy gets a suitable nod with scalding versions of "Let Me Love You Baby" and "Leave My Girl Alone". The standout track on this recording; however is the more contemplative "Riviera Paradise" - a gorgeous meditation with shimmering guitar and marrow-deep soul. If Stevie had died four years earlier, when his addictions threatened to overwhelm him, we would have had the patched-up, "Live Alive" ... Read More:

Where to start on the album...well it has to be Little Wing...the sleeve notes by Jimmie Vaughan state that with headphones on you can hear his amp buzzing and almost smell the pipes burning...and indeed you can, very rarely is anything this good!...add to this stevie's own redition of the title track, though the best version of this is to found on Martin Scorsese's Stevie collection. (a blistering live version).
This album was released just after Vaughan's death and is very possibly his best (studio) album.
What would he have been like if he had lived!?!?
Release Date November 18, 2002
For me this is SRV's best ever album, along with brother Jimmy they produce a heady mix of blues, rock, rockabilly and soul in one truly enjoyable release. To hear the two of them trading guitar duties together makes you so sorry this was their only album together.SRV was a guitar legend, but Jimmy is every bit his equal and more,he continues to produce great CD's just get a listen to them. It's not a long album,it leaves you wanting more but it's totally satisfying and definitely not to be missed at any price.
Not only do they play guitar so well, but both have good voices as well. The instrumental tracks maybe not what you expect, but they are very very good indeed. Just one album together but it's legendary stuff,no one should miss out on one of rock blues totally classic albums.
