I got this album about six months ago, liked it immediately and like it even more now. I love every song, although this is not the full version - which I got and think is much better cos it has some extra tracks. I think this is easily one of the best albums i have ever heard, ever! I recommend this to anyone who loves good music!

This is an excellent compilation that incorporates the best tracks from 2 other compilations - "A Decade Of Hits" and the expanded "The Road Goes on Forever". It includes a fair amount of the bands jamming, as can be expected on one disc. However, it does not miss on any major songs - 'Ramblin Man', 'Midnight Rider', 'Hoochie Coochie Man', 'Whipping Post' are all present. Some songs here have been replaced by extended versions (for instance a 7 minute 'Pegasus'), thus including the very best versions available.
This album narrowly misses being a definitive compilation, but is great value for money!

It's hard to believe that almost as many years have passed since this "comeback" album as separate it from the ABB's early '70s heyday, but it says more than a little that since "Seven Turns" was released the Allman Brothers have remained a potent live act and have released a number of solid, even excellent, studio albums. This album is then more than a mere "comeback" effort: it shows a group of veteran musicians walking out of the wilderness and finding they can still do what they do best. Moreover, the "new blood" members on this recording are far more than mere sidemen filling out the ranks: as shown by their mighty achievements to come in Gov't Mule, Warren Haynes and Allen Woody were vital and active members of a real functioning band and with ... This album is right up there with the very best of ABB. It might just be the best album they have released. Fantastic blues guitar on melodic songs that brings shiver to your spine on more than one occasion. I agree with the previous reviewer that often people tend to hype bands they like even though the review item is not that great. In this case, it is different. I have given this album to many friends that never had listened to the ABB before and they all love it. All the songs are great and the finale is worth the album in itself. Dereck and Warren both on slide guitars with Gregg's soothing voice on top is nothing less than riveting. I am not going to tell you to blindly "go buy it", but if you want that feeling you can get when you just discover ... Read More:

if you have heard a single Allman Brothers track that you like, then you will love this. bands in the early 70's (when music reached it's peak) were more than just record shifters. they played because they loved what they were doing. it's clear, then, that the Allman Brothers captured the true spirit of rock'n'roll.
this compilation, although short, is nothing short of legendary, as it's title promises. there are tracks missing which you would love to own, but that can't be helped. this band were one of the old breed who produced too much good music to fit onto one album.
buy this and then collect the others. enjoy listening!

I know I'll probably be knocked for giving this final Allman Brothers album to feature Duane Alman only three stars; but I must admit that I find it a little uneven.
The album has a strong opener in Gregg Allman's "Ain't Wasting Time No More", but Dickey's Betts' long instrumental "Les Brers in A Minor" sounds a little too loose to keep my interest going.
The melodic "Sweet Melissa" is another strong Gregg Allman effort; one of my favorites.
First track to feature Duane Allman is the extremely long live improvisions over Donovan's "There is a Mountain" called "Mountain Jam". I think you have to be a hard-care Duane Allman fan to really find this interesting.
"One Way Out" and "Trouble No More" are two more live-tracks; The ... Read More:

The sound on this live recording is superbly crisp and clear, and the Allman Brothers Band play excellent renditions of old and new material, including the funky blues-rock stomper "Sailin' 'Cross The Devil's Sea", the soulful R&B-grind of "Soulshine", and the pure blues of "You Don't Love Me" and Willie Dixon's "The Same Thing".
The entire band plays with grit and nerve all the way through, and this muscular and very accessible live album is a tremendous latter-day addition to the Allman Brothers' catalogue.
Gregg Allman's voice is strong, if a little bit worn, and guitarists Warren Haynes and Dickey Betts play blistering fills and solos on inspired renditions of then-new songs like "Sailin' 'Cross The Devil's Sea", "Back Where It All Begins", and the driving "No ... Read More:
