Fantastic new album from the Wonderful Black Keys. If you've never heard them before I can highly recommend them if you like Blues, Classic Rock but with a modern twist, similar but better (yes better) than the White Stripes. I agree with some of the other reviewers that it's more polished than previous outing but I don't mind this. Check out their back catalouge now!
Release Date September 11, 2006
You won't be disappointed with this CD. It's no gamble to buy it if you haven't heard The Black Keys play - as long as you like rock, or blues, you will love this album. They seem to be on a marathon US tour at the moment but could be in the UK September 2006, so you've got time to get this and realise what you've been missing from your life before you see them live!! You won't regret it, honest.
Release Date June 20, 2005
Raw, tough, fiery and polished. This album has to be one of the best around for all of these things. If you're into Led Zepp, Hendrix, 70s blues rock etc then this has to be in your collection. Not that the Black Keys sound the same as any of these people/groups mentioned, they've got a sound and a style of their own. But it's a good bet that if you feel music in your bones from that bunch then this duo with their stripped down sound and ferocious tunes will get to you in the same way.
Release Date May 01, 2006
I agree totally with the previous reviews. A straight blues cover EP, that has so atmospheric, emotional and quite simply beautiful. It's the best £6 you'll ever spend. My favorite keys album, along with Thickfreakness.
Release Date August 15, 2005
This is easily the best album they have done, i've owned it for a while and not written a review but upon seeing all the other reviews i felt it had to be said. THE ONLY SIMILARITY WITH THE THE WHITES STRIPES IS THAT THEY'RE A TWO PIECE BAND. They sound entirely different and for a start, Pat can drum and meg can't. However there is a feel of hendrix and definately cream/clapton about theyre songs; this the best album out of the 6(including te EP, which is worth buying aswell)and everyone should buy it. Enjoy.

It appears that the BKs have been listening to quite a bit of Led Zep before recording this album, but forgot that they also did quicker songs too! Overall, there are some ok tunes, but there is less of a funky blues edge, and more plodding, dirge like blues rock. There's still stuff on here for BK fans, but I no longer listen to it, while I constantly listen to all their other albums.
Release Date November 06, 2006
If you haven't heard the Black Keys before then you should start with one of their albums, but if you have and are wondering if you should buy this - then do it! You know you won't be disappointed.

These boys are fantastic and this album is fantastic. They still have the same primal blues rock sound. However in this album they are more creative and experimental tham ever before with some acoustic songs and more thoughtful lyrics. Its great because it keeps all the good points of what they already had but adds and develops the style so that each song is more individual and the enire production is more polished.
Buy it as it is the best yet from the black keys!!1

I first heard "The Black Keys" on the fantastic "Punkorama 8" and bought this album on spec. Skillfully controlled two piece blues rock that roars out of the speakers, with more subtlety and soul than "The White Stipes" manage. The recent explosion of "The" bands (Hives, Vines, Datsuns etc.) and their clones all left me unimpressed. Until now. "The Black Keys" deserve to be huge. Will be interesting to see how their sound developes (as all bands must). Not only an album for blues/rock lovers, but for all fans of "real" music.
