Twelve Stops and Home

by: The Feeling

Release Date June 05, 2006
The essence of any Brit-Pop band is do they have enough originality to last the distance? It's often easy to produce a stunning first album and then fail to live up to expectations. Having said that there has to be a starting point and The Feeling are a decent southern England band with some catchy choruses and hook lines that have stood them apart from many of their contemporaries. They have the pseudo London feel of a Blur but mix it with decent melodies.

They are one of those bands that you hear in a shopping centre or on the radio and immediately think "that's good who are they? It's ... Read More:

I Thought It Was Over

by: The Feeling

Release Date February 11, 2008
I'm writing this review, not because of the single (which is decent enough) but its B-sides. I hate buying singles because they clutter up my collection, but when the single is out the week before the album it seems even more pointless. In this case I'm glad I did buy it. 'Don't Make It Easy' is better than a number of tracks on the new album and 'Colombia' is better than any of them. 'Colombia' is very uptempo, full of great keyboard lines and (I know everyone says it) reminiscent of ELO at their very best. It may be the ELO tinge that saw this song left off the album but whatever the reasons melodic pop fans really should get hold of this. Also, given that the album is great in places but less consistent than 'Twelve Stops...', these two tracks fill ... Read More:

I first heard this on Capital FM earlier this year and I kept wondering 'who sings this?'. Not knowing, of course, this was a band I'd soon become a big fan of later.

The simple bass playing in the background with Dan's voice at the beggining, the introducing the piana and drums later really make this song. Not to mention the heartfelt lyrics that are somehow deep and easy to remember at the same time.

I've heard this live too, which is even better. The Feeling's debut song is among the best I've heard for quite a while, and 2006 will be a big year for them, mark my words.
