what a greatest hits compilation!!, usually with greatest hits compilations there are a few dud tracks on them, NOT THIS ONE, i have loved the prodigy for years, there music started as classic rave/dance and now has developed in to a genre all on its own, every tune on this album is very distinct and everybody will of heard the firestarters, breathe, out of space, poison etc so i dont need to tell you how good they are, its the re worked tracks of voodoo people and charly that stand out on disc one they sound so fresh, if you buy this album i definatly suggest u buy the 2 disc set as the new tracks razor and back to school are fantastic full of the prodigy energy they install in all there tracks and there are sum really good
remixes and ... Read More:

I'm with the first reviewer 100% plus i give the original album 5/5. Jilted Generation was originaly a 14 track record, which when completed lasted longer than 1 cd could actually play hence the heavily edited version of 'One Love', plus the entire removal of a track called 'We Eat Rhythm'. That track in particular was and still is a classic example of liams talents and really should have been included in this edition, especially as it never made the original cd because of technical reasons. Any half keen prodigy enthusiast has already got all the tracks that are on the second cd. It is a real shame!

I would not say the other reviewer is much of a prodigy fan if he cant hear the difference in the remastering ! sounds better than ever, and although some of the bonus remixes / additional tracks are not up to the prodigy polished touch - the ruff in the jungle and weather experience remixes more than make up for it. An excellent introduction to early 90s 'dance' music.
Release Date July 04, 1994
The young electronica fans of today will never understand the effect that this album had on release. In 1994 this was new in a way that nothing else had been new. To listen to it for the first time was akin to having your ears opened - new sounds, new beats, new rhythms. I defy anyone to find anything on this album that sounds derivative.
14 years on, I still LOVE listening to this album (on vinyl, of course!) from start to finish. It still sounds groundbreaking.
In my opinion, it's the finest dance music album that will ever be made.

Okay it certainly isn't Fat of the Land, but not being a long-time follower of Prodigy I have a different perspective.
I'd describe this as a mixture of Orbital and Daft Punk. Spitfire could get away with sneaking onto the Fat of the Land album, but only just.
Apart from Shoot Down, which felt similar to Climbatize in it's relaxing 'spiritual' sound which is well suited to closing an album, I didn't feel any sense of cohesion, some great tracks suitable for single use on the MP3 player.

The diamond of the old skool rave scene. The best Prodigy album in my opinion (although I'm a big fan of fast paced dance music like happy hardcore) with some of their best tracks, and at the same time it is an absolute disaster. Why Liam and the gang decided to leave out the released single versions of Fire and Wind it up used to be a mystery to me, I now know why, to earn more money. Charly is a bit different aswell, though some would argue better on the album, aswell as a couple of others being a little different. The brilliant versions of Fire and Wind it up (rewound) were left out and replaced with terrible remixes in comparrison. You used to have to fork out another £10 just to get the two singles, worth every penny (especially Wind it Up which has "We are the ... Read More:

The problem is, I had already heard the fantastic "Brainfreeze" and "Product Placement" by DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist, not to mention a couple of DJ Yoda's "How to Cut & Paste" albums.
Those guys really know how to mix their records - Liam Howlett doesn't.
The scratching is nothing special and the blending (and choice) of tracks at times seems random. There are some good moments in the first two CD tracks, but that's largely due to the songs themselves and little to do with the mixing. The rest of the album is very mediocre.
Release Date October 17, 2005
These guys have been around a while and this is a brilliant selection of their songs, all the favourites and some only fans would know. A must for anyone interested in hearing more from The Prodigy and the extras are brilliant, especially the reix of Outer Space.
Release Date January 30, 2006
I suppose this is supposed to be in the great John Peel tradition of slamming different musical genres and different eras together back-to-back to create a rich, varied and contrasting experience.
At times, however, it feels more like a rather lazy exercise in picking old records at random. You could achieve the same thing by plucking items from almost any half-decent long-term collection. Mr. Howlett isn't taking us anywhere new, and he must be having a laugh by ending with an ELO track.
I expect some of your own compilation tapes/CDs are better. I know mine are.
