I must admit, I'm not exactly a fan or Tom Jones, but my sister already has this album and when I listened to it I just had to buy it. The man has an awesome voice and every track on this album is totally different. A good one to add to your collection!
Release Date September 27, 2004

This is Tom Jones as I first knew him in the 60s - not as smooth as he later became but still with the big, beautiful voice, at home with the ballads or rockers or even funny romantic - I'd fogotten The Young New Mexican Puppeteer which I loved tho I could never sing without getting tongue tied. If you like great songs and great singing, you can't get better.
Release Date February 17, 2003
For those who felt his style was outdated, again he illustrates just how fantastic his voice is!
The two best songs are the cover of the Talking Head's brilliant Burning Down the House and the reworking of classic San Francisco punk band Flipper's Sex Bomb. While I would say the Talking Heads cover is superior, anyone who enjoys this disc should really buy a copy of Flipper's album "Generic Flipper" (also called "Album") to hear the brilliant original.

This compilation encompasses both the early and the later hits of the legendary vocalist. The most unforgettable songs from his most productive period in the 1960s and early 1970s are here: the country classic Green Green Grass Of Home, classic pop like It's Not Unusual, What's New Pussycat, She's A Lady and I'll Never Fall in Love Again and pulsating vocal rock or dramatic power ballads (Pre-Meatloafian) like Delilah, Thunderball, Help Yourself, Daughter Of Darkness and Young New Mexican Puppeteer. There are some omissions, like Detroit City and minor hits such as Once Upon a Time, Little Lonely One, and With These Hands.
The second phase of his career is well represented by his innovative collaborations with new generation artists like ... Read More:

'This Is Tom Jones' was an ATV/ABC variety show which run for a couple of years between 1969-71. It probably goes without saying the star of the show was none other than the charismatic powerhouse voiced Tom Jones himself.
To use words like charismatic and powerhouse voiced in addition to elecrifying performer and amazingly versitile singer is no idle boast when describing Tom Jones at this period of his career as he literally tore into the songs (especially the uptempo ones) with an incredible sense of abandonment in addition to displaying a rare sensitivity when the need arose with many of the ballads. His fantastic stage presence with his incredibly exciting moves (which drove some women crazy) is truly a sight to behold. In performances ... Read More:

This is genious,my normal taste in music is more heavier than this bands like Papa Roach,Limp Bizkit,KoRn etc but this really was good, with classics like Sexbomb,Burning Down the House,Sunny Afternoon and Mama Told Me not to come and more covered suberbly with other top notch artists which combines for a truly fab album. My Personal fave is a Are you gonna go my way by Lenny Kravitz covered by Jones and Robbie Williams.

I bought this in the hopes of hearing the classic Tom Jones. Definitely disappointed. The "Best" of is Mr Jones covering his own songs, departing so far from the originals in style and over-production that it tears bullet holes in the soul. Ordinarily I would cringe at "another" re-release of a greatest hits of any artist, but this is in a whole new league of it's own.
I shudder to think at what minds thought this was a good idea. Frankly, I'm holding back. I give one star because I can't give less, and I give this review because to say how I really feel would make me a potty mouth.
Definitely not the "Best of Tom Jones", in case I wasn't clear.
