Bought the album after being swept away on hearing Louise on the radio one night and fell in love with the beautiful stripped back melancholy of this magnificent cover. As with Richard Hawley, if you're not a big fan of country, some tracks will leave you a little cold, but I promise you will never get bored of settling back into the dramatic, wall of sound bombasity of Danger is a Woman in Love or Born to Cry or lose yourself in the wistful sadness of Louise or Paradise Square.

Never mind 'Amarillo,' THE BEST song Tony Christie ever sung was 'I Did What I Did For Maria,' and it is, quite rightly, the FIRST track on here. My old 45 had been played so many times it looked white, so this album replaced it. He's a great singer, but 'Maria' is his Very Best track! (As you will hear).

The only reason I purchased this item was because it stated it included the video. I look after kids and they LOVED it from the computer. Needless to say when I looked for said video nothing at all showed up! If it wasnt for charity it would have been money completely wasted.

When this came out in 2005 you couldn't go anywhere withyout seeing the fantastic video for this song where Peter Kay worked his magic with a host of cameo appearances from stars. Without a doubt, a classic and one that'll be remembered for years - not least because the song remained at number one for so long.

The song itself is insanely catchy, universal in its appeal - prompting major re-interest in Christie himself who is one of the masters of the easy-listening genre. He's got a great voice. And best of all, all the proceeds from this fantastic song went to charity.

I have this on DVD and single it's an anthemic song with great vocals from the peerless Tony Christie . The video is fantastic and very funny, a spoof on seventies cop show's showing that Tony Christie has a sense of humour as he sends himself up brilliantly. This has a different back up track to the single version. With Almost in love in place of Santa Maria.But doesn't include the love to infinity radio mix. Play it at full volume in your car or on your stereo and you'll be hooked. A supremely talented singer provides fantastic vocals on a song that's a real belter.
