I bought this record based on the strength of the opening song, 'Oscar'. The song features some gorgeous harmonics and shuffling drums to begin with, but what makes the song is its construction. I found the gradual accumulation of Anna Clementi's sampled vocals and the shift in mood from ambience to a sensual trance excellent. At around 3.00 the song floats in the ambient key, before satisfyingly building up a head of steam again. A pretty flawless song.
However, unfortunately the rest of this album doesn't display the same kind of dexterity. For a start, nothing else reaches the same pace as the opener, although 'Gute Loune' and 'Wonderful' do well to create a summery festivity, with some good performances from Tweed and a typically ... Read More:

This is an album that I keep going back to time and time again and never get tired of listening to the cleverly crafted tunes. Some tracks are soft and downbeat, whilst others are positively funky, but taken together they create the perfect lounge CD. And is it surprising? One half of Tosca is Richard Dorfmeister of legendary duo Kruder & Dorfmeister and so you would expect a quality product. This isn't a quality product, it is an exceptional one.

Suzuki itself is almost a masterpiece along the lines of Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Matisse, and to consider a remix cd is almost anathema...but I was wrong !!!
Having listened, over and over, to this Dub remix CD has introduced me to a number of the artists who have contributed remixes to this collection, expanding my own collection in a big way!
But I was also wrong in that the remixes do not detract from the Zen-inspired originals, but takes the tracks into new territory, giving them new life, new expressions, taking the originals out-of-the-box, dressing them up, and going out on a night-on-the-town for some serious grooving!!!
Good that the guys of Tosca are not afraid to have their holy cows challenged!!!

The exquisite sound of Tosca return, with tracks full of intelligent beats, from jazzy downbeat, cinematic blues and mellow house sound styles. The work of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber is so deep that creates a cold and warm atmosphere at same time. Featuring the most beautiful vocal performances from Earl Zinger and Valerie Etienne, Samia Farah, Chris Eckman and Diana Lueger, Stefan Graf Hadik Wildner and the greatest "Anna Clementi" and Farda P. This album is the most consistent formulation of both the carefree and the melancholic aspects of Tosca. The melodies quicken, the grooves are both fun loving and laidback. Huber and Dorfmeister have found both a fresh understanding of the art of understatement and a newly reformulated, breathtaking musical authenticity. ... Read More:

An interesting debut from Austrian duo Tosca shows just how much they've evolved musically. A few minimalistic - verging on simplistic - downbeat tunes accompany a few more overlong ambient tracks topped off with an array of samples from what sounds like a cross between a preacher man and a wannabe beatboxer talking at people. Clocking in at 50 minutes, it seems not to really have achieved anything revolutionary or even particularly interesting, and you may or may not be left wondering why you purchased this crap. As an introduction, it's useless, but as an insight into what Tosca once sounded like, you may find it worth delving into, or even enjoyment.
Release Date November 21, 2000
For Tosca fans hooked on their excellent "Dehli 9" and "Suzuki" albums, "Chocolate Elvis" comes a pretty close third. Superficially an 11 track remix of the same song, it's much broader and much more interesting than its track listing suggests. With most of the remixes being so different that they stand as totally different tracks, and with several managing to raise a smile on the way, the album flows from start to finish and after a couple of plays starts to etch its way into the memory's "groove-banks" in typical Richard Dorfmeister style. As always, brilliantly produced and seriously addictive.
Release Date May 22, 2006
Previous Tosca releases have generally been either addictive, catchy or evocative albums. Their other remix of 2000's underground classic Suzuki, "Suzuki In Dub", proved to be something worth adding to any lounge collection. This latest offering from the laid-back Austrian duo is a decent enough effort with some truly fantastic sounds, potentially better quality than some of the J.A.C. originals. Smooth, seductive and chilled.
