I think many people who heard this around 78/79/80/81 -it stirs nostalgic memories or student life, NWOBHM, first flat etc.
I remember so vividly playing along with Schenkers unbelievable guitar on my lap after a few beers and the memory never fades.
You don't need me to tell you this is the, repeat the pinnacle of UFO that will never be surpassed. It's also the album that is up there amongst the top 5 all time metal/Heavey Rock ,live albums.
The whole thing works majestically, it's heavy, it's loose it's amazing songs, brilliant guitars, superb vocals and one mega atmosphere.
Listen, think back and enjoy - if it hits the nostalgic button, let a tear flow - it's amazing.

'Phenomenon' was vital in UFO's switch from their early spacey stuff to the hard rock that broke them in the UK. The hard-driving, zigzagging guitar figure makes 'Oh My' a great start to the album and the playing of Michael Schenker is wonderful throughout, exciting at its best. The Quo-like 'Doctor Doctor' became a breakthrough hit and is possibly only bettered here by the white-hot 'Rock Bottom'. The latter track, however, also highlights how ordinary most of the rest of the songs are. The attempts at thoughtful, acoustic-tinged songs, 'Crystal Light' and 'Time On My Hands' are professionally-performed and pretty dull. 'Too Young To Know' is tame, 'Built For Comfort' is a tired retread of an old blues song which sounded a lot better in Howlin' ... Read More:

Excellent remaster of this classic album. Not too much has been tinkered with to my ears, just a bit more power in the mix with some nice bonus material. The original was a very polished piece of work and was starting to sound a little lightweight when compared to their most recent recordings. This is therefore another welcome addition.
Release Date January 28, 2008
This is a brilliant re-master of a classic rock album. Please see my review of the original album for more detail if you like, suffice to say this is well engineered and comes with bonus material for the collectors. One of their best studio albums from a golden age and one of my favourites to this day. Bliss!
Release Date November 26, 2007
Yes its good value and great live music from my favourite rock band. It's also a good way to get a copy of the "On With The Action" set from the Roundhouse. But unless you must own absolutely everything they've produced it's yet another live offering from an already well stocked catalogue. Most fans probably already have fairly recent releases of most of this material. The updated and remastered copies of "Phenomenon", "Force It" and "No Heavy Pettin'" are fabulous and I highly recommend these. It's great to have old music that is carefully enhanced to keep pace with technology. Perhaps I'm in the minority but I'm getting board of all this live and compilation stuff that keeps flooding the market. It's good in that it keeps UFO in the public domain ... Read More:

This is one of the all-time classic hard rock albums. I agree with the other reviewer who says that Schenker and Mogg bring out the best in each other, and this album and the next studio album they did together 18 years later (Walk on Water) prove it. Having said this, it should be noted that Schenker frequently reaches this guitar-playing standard without Mogg - though Mogg is probably Schenker's best song-writing partner.
Anyway - to the record in hand. Only You Can Rock me is a superb opening track with a haunting melodic solo in the middle that has to be one of rock's timeless great moments. Pack it Up and Go is a great-song that simultaneously show-cases Schenker's talents. Arbory Hill slows things down nicely before the more ballad-like ... Read More:

This is the architypal UFO album where the best line up ever found their true sound. I hate the term "heavy Metal" and don't consider UFO to be anything other than a quality rock band. This album has everything, powerful guitars and rasping solo's like the classic "Lights Out",a beautiful ballad in "Try Me" , melody, orchestral arrangements and the classic "Love to Love". UFO discovered here that they could use keyboards and keep it heavy. All eight songs are great with plenty of variety to make it a real good listen even thirty years on.
Release Date March 24, 2008
i wasn't too dissappointed with this best of considering its this 19 tracker is stuffed with class and grit combined with memorable melodies and rousing riifs since this serves as a taster for the extensive back catalogue re-issues program that is due to stretch across 2008 so anybody wanting to sample a bit of UFO should have a crack with this best of.
Release Date January 28, 2008
The earliest and probably the best buy of the three albums re-issued this year in my humble opinion. This is due to the package of bonus material which you may not have in your collection and which is stronger than the extra bits on "Force It" and "No Heavy Pettin". Again the music has not suffered and benefits from a more powerful upto date mix. One of the six must have 70's albums from the classic UFO line up. You won't regret owning another copy!
Release Date June 30, 2008
Great to see a re-mastered version on this all time classic album.
All in all I have probably listened to this album more than any other, from when it was first released in 1978 & it still stands the test of time today.
The orchestral overtones of "Looking Out For No.1" were quite innovative for the time and the guitar breaks are just the perfect definition of "less is more", throughout the album. Michael Schenker is never too self indulgent, but brilliantly melodic, intricate & bombastic where appropriate.
