This album is a warning to all new bands: don't believe your own hype. Ultrasound were hailed as the next big thing, and the singles running up to the album's release seemed to justify that (although the cracking 'Best Wishes' and 'I'll Show You Mine' are both conspicuously absent).

As with follow-up I'll Show You Mine, this was not included on the epic debut Everything Picture (1999)- though there was an alternate hidden version of 'Best Wishes' on the Ltd version of that album.
Ultrasound were a mutant blend of Pere Ubu & Smashing Pumpkins & fitted in with a vague-prog-ish movement (see releases by Radiohead, Spiritualized, Verve, Dark Star, Doves, Strangelove, Mogwai, January). The main track is less anthemic than Floodlit World- quite an odd choice for the lead- but nicely mixed by Nigel 'Radiohead' Godrich. Second track Kurt Russell would have been a better choice of single, classic ... Read More:
