I'm not against pop/classical albums and artists per se, because I quite like to hear some of the world's greatest tunes given a good roll-over, but Vanessa Mae's contributions to the genre have always seemed far too forced and mechanical.
She is undeniably a gifted and technically brilliant violinist, and she is shown at her best when letting rip on Bach's Toccata, I'm A-Doun, Storm and Devil's Trill. However, Vivaldi's Four Seasons is such an overworked piece and the two movements included here are coarse and lacking in any musical feeling, certainly nowhere near the league of Kennedy for ostentation or Vengerov for warmth. And I'm sorry but her own compositions (Destiny, Aurora, Solace) are so bland they could be TV test card ... Read More:

Vanessa Mae's "Choreography" is a masterpiece, as was her previous CD "Subject to change". I bought the CD on its release date in Kuala Lumpur and listened to it all during my 11 hour flight back to England. It's a great fusion of classical and contemporary sounds, bringing in various worldwide influences (Indian, Morroccon, Irish, English, Spanish etc). Wonderful!

as i fan of many music genres it still came as a suprise that this violin album would blow me away but it did.as my musical spectrum is wide i like too listen too the beautiful playing of the violin and then just go off the map by listening too the super heavy guitar riffing of slayer(see) i like a bit of classical music so i thought this might be decent so i bought it.i bought it and wow amazing playing by vanessa (im a doun is simply beautiful..when it breaks in the middle and then comes back with the most beautiful playing ever ,it ripped my heart out) excelent album no matter what genre you listen too..fantastic BUT IT NOW.

As a keen listener of Vivaldi's 'The Four Seasons', I was interested to hear Vanessa's interpretation of it. I was pleased with the outcome - Vanessa has yet again shown to us her unique and incredible talent. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to both Vivaldi and Tartini, and as a bonus, there are two other tracks at the end of the CD. One of these was a piece she played for the Disney movie 'Mulan' which is a pleasant contrast to the other tracks. A fascinating CD - buy it now!

If you ‘re a fan of Vanessa Mae, then you’ll love this album, if you’re into classical music I think this album would be quite interesting to hear. No introductions are really needed when writing about Vanessa Mae; she is a very talented artist and an excellent violin player. ‘The violin player’ is a pleasant album to listen to and features some very powerful tracks, such as ‘toccata and fugue in D minor’ and a personal favourite ‘red hot’. Melodic tracks are also featured, like ‘Widescreen’, which is a quite beautiful and melancholic track. Another good track in this album is ‘Classical Gas’; it just sounds so fresh and innovative, watch out for the reggae version in ‘the ... Read More:

I only bought this CD because I am a fan of Vanessa's and I before buying this, I had never heard Chinese music before. I was really suprised by how much I enjoyed listening to these tracks. They are all really enjoyable as they are happy, light-hearted, cheerful pieces that lightened my mood. I liked all the pieces but my favourite has to be the last track 'Happy Valley' which was really unique. I had never heard anything like it before - chanting and playing together. V-M plays with so much emotion - you must buy this CD now!

I bought this album without having heard it before, and I had high hopes because it is meant to be another fusion style album. But what I found after having listened to it several times is it lacks passion. The tracks were ok, but not great, they don't come and grab you like some of her previous work.
