Nightmare Before Christmas

The score for the film The Nightmare before Christmas is brilliant in its own strange way. Both the music and the lyrics are written by Danny Elfman, and he also sings the main character of jack Skellington.
The songs are delightful and variated, and you discover something new in the arrangement, every time you listen to them. Besides, the instrumental tracks are beautiful and melancholy, a nice contrast to the humourous and often lively songs. If you like the film or are just a little bit interested in music, you should definetly buy this CD. It has so many great tunes, and the orchestration is just perfect. All in all, a soundtrack quite out of the ordinary.

This is of course the sound track to the Hugh Grant/Drew Barrymore romantic comedy Music and Lyrics. If you've seen the film and enjoyed it, you'll love this. It's got all the versions described in the blurb on the Amazon item, and although I inevitably skip all of the quite frankly terrible (but deliberately so, so it's not that bad) Cora Corman songs, I really, really love the ones that involved Hugh Grant.

They include the brilliantly bad 80s records by his character's band Pop, joyous in their accurate send up of the 80s pop scene, bad because they are more schmaltzy than you can imagine. Lots of oldies on this one, just as you might suspect from the title. They are true to the original and even my cat enjoyed 'All I want for Christmas is my Two FrontTeeth' ! He sat with his nose pressed against the speakers and enjoyed every minute! The rest are nostalgic Christmas songs from way back in your childhood, ( if your over 60 ) and when things seemed safe and cosie sitting in the parlour listening to the old bacalite radio, the original ones not todays fakes! So if you feel a reminiscence coming on - Buy this - I think you will enjoy going back to the days of Christmas when a child just after the war....

A great release and especially for a soundtrack.
Here's my synopsis:

Theme To St. Trinians: This song is quite good and has very catchy material in it.
Performed by Girls Aloud, the tune is something you'de hum to yourself absent-mindedly. (End Song/Throughout Film)

Trouble: This song is performed by the cast of St. Trinians and wouldn't be one of my favourites, but is again quite catchy. (When They're In Debt)

Oh My God: This is a fantastic song and is done by both Mark Ronson & Lily Allen, it has got a brilliant tune and is from the album 'Version' by Mark Ronson. Wonderful. (When Anna Arrives)

After listening to this C.D at a friends house, whose son had been given it as birthday gift, i was hooked. Although it is aimed at a young audience (it comes complete with stickers), I genuinly feel that its rich range of culturally diverse music has something to offer everyone. 'Three little birds' is a well known Bob Marley song and on this albumn, his mother, who sings it, brings it to life with classic reggae charm. Along similar lines is Manu Chao's 'Bongo Bong'.
