Ignore the politics of Mark Doyle, Hed Kandi, Fierce Angel, honestly ignore that. The track listing on CD1, the apparently "twisted side of dance" begins with a remix of an Adele track and then a Daniel Beddingfield song. Robin S appears somewhere on one of the other mindless cds yet again with show me love for the 345th time this year.
Nuff said, for those of you with a tenner to spend save it for a kebab, this album is beyond credible and yes, I bought it

For too long disco compilations have focused solely on rehashing the same classics over and over again.
Well, this collection does it differently: it puts the fun back into disco by picking out all the tunes that you have long forgotten about, all those you remember as being vaguely embarrassing, and then sprinkles in a strong selection of the classics for those who have never bought a disco collection before. It'll keep you on the dance floor and put a huge smile on your face.
As the icing on the cake, it unearths the Space Disco genre! Of course, Spacer has long been recognised as a classic disco song, being output from The Chic Organisation, but you can't fail to smile (and more importantly dance) when you hear Automatic ... Read More:

One of television's beneficial side-effects is to generate audience participation outside the box, not least in the field of ballroom dancing. On the heels of this resurgence has come the demand for suitable music, and the latest CD label to take the floor is Avid, with this quite splendid panorama of terpsichorean temptation. It covers almost every ballroom form, and a wide range of compositions and styles, but all focussed on the primary requirement for a strict tempo.
Although aimed specifically at aspiring hoofers and their teachers, this compilation should have a wider appeal. The ballroom orchestras aimed for purity of tone, and this is particularly noticeable on the tracks by Maxwell Stewart's Ballroom Orchestra, where the golden ... Read More:

This is a really bad news compilation; I received it 24 hours ago and my legs haven't stopped moving yet. If this is truly what you got at Blackpool Mecca I doubt if I could have survived - even with a sackful of leapers - but I would have died a happy man.
25 fantastic tracks, unfortunately Van McCoy's stupendous 'Soul Improvisations part 2' seems to be stuck on permanent repeat (don't know how that could have happened) so the others are getting little playing great as they are.

I would guess that most people these days, upon seeing this album in the listings, would opine that the marketing department at EMI must be scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with this for their "Best...In The World...Ever" series. Fans of band music will shun it for its pick-and-mix composition, and everyone else will not give it a second thought.
Unfashionable it may be, but there is nothing quite like the raw power and stirring sound of a military band playing live, unadulterated by electronics and amplification, and, while it is almost impossible to transfer this energy satisfactorily to record, to simply ignore it is to miss out on some blistering tunes and harmonies, and great music overall, and I would argue that there's a ... I went to see the movie, 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging' a few days ago, and loved the Stiff Dylans that featured in it. I looked up some of the songs on YouTube and drove my parents crazy until my friend pointed out that, if I loved it so much, I should buy the soundtrack album. It was a very wise move. There is great music on here and I definately recommend it to anyone who loved the movie and the music in it.
