There's got to be something wrong with anyone who doesn't rate Vera Lynn who is this country's most famous girl singer and who can be said to have been in the forefront of the first British Invasion which also included Dick James ,Mantovani and Frank Chacksfield
Having just passed her 90th birthday it seems absurd that there has yet to be a DVD.
The closest so far is Songs of World War 2 which she introduces and which shows footage of her on stage.In fact seen here she looks quite stunning
Possibly every song she ever recorded is now on CD the most recent the EMI Singles Collection which includes the 2 Beatles songs

At one time Vera Lynn was cutting a disc a month and there must be many more titles awaiting reissue.
I could never tell-this is missing though its on 2 other comps.Hardly a World shattering song it was co written by Edwin Astley of The Saint and Danger Man fame and Vera could very well have been the first to record his music.Astley was named as being one of her arrangers and he named one of his daughters after her daughter.
There are in fact many more Vera Lynn comps other than what Amazon are stocking-I have quite a few

When I first heard about this CD, in April, I was completely surprised. Up until the past few years, Dame Vera Lynn's prolific career of the 1950s has been somewhat overlooked. All that has changed, however: first of all, in 2000, with the release of "the Decca Years" which rounded off the chart hits of the era (there were 9) plus many other recordings from the time, and now this CD concentrates on those singles which had still not made it onto compact disc.

As the compiler notes, there have been compilations of Vera's wartime recordings already - many times in fact. The 50s chart hits have also been compiled. This compilation basically takes an overview of the rare Decca singles of the 1950s.
