Iam glad this Visage album has finally been released, this was an excellent album for the time and captured the New Romantic Movement at it's best. Sound on this album is good if not excellent. The extra tracks are great especially Damned don't cry 12" and Mind of a toy 12". Brings back some nice memories. This abum is heavily influenced by Midge Ure/Boys and almost sounds like Ultravox in some parts,Steve Strange adds the glitz and polish to the overall production. Sleeve notes are very informative also, pity Polydor could'nt of done the same years ago, as this is a major album from the 80's era. Great Purchase for 80's fans.
Release Date March 18, 1996
This is basically a very shoddy and thrown together compilation. With a dance culture being such an integral part of the whole New Romantic/Synthpop world it seems nonsensical to me that the versions of the songs on this compilation are not the 12 inch mixes. And it's not as if the 12 inches of tracks like "Fade To Grey", "The Damned Don't Cry" and "Night Train" were those barely extended longer versions that plagued us when 12 inch versions started to become commonplace in pop as opposed to disco and funk at the start of the 1980s. Visage 12 inches as with a lot of their electropop ilk were often imaginatively extended and so far superior to the 7inch edit. And they're still not available on CD and they wonder why people download for free.

Yes this is good album, I originally puchased this when I was 16 way back in 1980. I was blown away with the track "fade to grey" the single and video on TOTP's although not the first release from this album. Musically the album is a classic and buy it for that, sonically unfortunately it's badly in need of some re-mastering and tweaking with possibly the inclusion of some extra tracks! or, 12" mixes of Vis-age, and Fade to Grey. The sound is compressed on the cd mastering and there is a lot of analogue tape hiss on my copy from the Polydor release. Who ever owns the copywrite to this album please do it justice and polish the sound up! Thanks.

I just bought this cd recently, after enjoying the Blitz-time at Inflation in Melbourne. I missed this music in my collection, even after 20+ years. Isn't that incredible ? The music is catchy, dancable, at times brilliant, nostalgic, stylish and of sheer beauty. It's thatrical, aswell as glossy and it's like parading at The Ramblas at Barcelona or anywhere else. It's still fashionable, although you won't find a hairdresser or fashionist in my near surroundings.
I sincerely do hope, this music will have a rebound, as music has become to flat these days. Overproduced without any real spheric presence. Visage has all that. Look al the musicians...Magazine, Ultravox, Rusty Egan and Steve Strange. I've read that Strange is going to rule again ... Read More:

Waiting two years for an album was unheard of in the early 80's. Nether the less this happened with Visage's third album Beat Boy.
