This album is an absaloute classic. not many people have yet heard of Luke Vibert or Wagoin Christ. But this really is an unfound gem. The way its all placed together is genius. Nearly everytime I put it on, someone nearly always comes over and asked me who this is.They think its fantastic. That it really is. Its quite hard to get hold of, but worth every penny.
Release Date June 21, 2004
I was very excited about this album, but it has been very disappointing.. I know that you can't expect artists to produce the same style on every album - they need to explore and progress, however, while this album is technically brilliant, it lacks those powerful tracks, such as Fly Swat, Memory Towel, Step to the Music, Musipal, Bend over and All of it is now. Of course that is my taste but without these types of tracks the album sounds very bland and repetitive, it just lacks that wacky creative edge.. Have tried listening quite a few times and the songs just don't catch...

First listening to Luke Vibert i was unaware of the work done under the alter ego of Wagon Christ. Through Luke Vibert i was instead subjected to the downright coolest acid disco i had ever heard which worked well for me but left me wondering what it would be like listening to the grooves without the sometimes dizzying sound that he often incorporates. After since discovering this gem, i can now see.
Effortlessly catchy rhythms, funky basslines and the beauty of the synths make this a sound to behold and is a must for anyone staying faithful to the alternative scene of electronica (a must for Squarepusher fans and the early work of Aphex Twin.)
absolute musical genius, go on, open your mind and let it immerse you in its sonic majesty.
Release Date April 02, 2001
Luke Vibert (aka Wagon Christ, aka Plug) is a genius. I reckon he's one of the most original and interesting dance musicians out there. You won't hear anything as quirky, yet wonderfully layered and bouncy, anywhere else. That said, Musipal is not his best work. It doesn't stray from the style of Tally Ho!, which would be fine if it was just as good, but it isn't. It's still a good album, but there are a few too many songs that aren't special.
If you don't have anything by Mr Vibert, go and get Tally Ho!, which is fantastic, and Big Soup, which is one of my favourite records ever. Well worth checking out too is his collaboration with slide guitar legend BJ Cole, Stop The Panic. On the face of it a daft combo, but one that works brilliantly.
