This is roots harmony at its very best. The Wailing Souls at the top of their game! Though their Studio One offerings take some beating, the vocal subtleties of this Joe Higgs inspired quartet are showcased here with uplifting effect. Self-produced and backed by the likes of Sly Dunbar on drums, Ranchie McLean on bass and a peerless horn-section led by Vin Gordon, Rico Rodriguez and "Deadly" Headly Bennett, this is surely a seminal album. As a vinyl purist it's torture to see the dub vesions on this new CD release that were left off the original Island LP in 1979.

If you love roots rockers and don't already own this, what are you waiting for? Put on "Feel the Spirit", fire one up and get with the Wailing Souls. Brilliant!

Timeless classic from the golden age of reggae, ahead of Wild Suspense in my humble opinion as the Wailing Souls' greatest record. Title track and 'Kingdom Rise, Kingdom Fall' the highlights, but not a duff moment amid the wonderful harmonies and body-wiggling rhythms.

I latched onto the Wailing Souls some years ago when I bought the Greensleeves 'Best of' compilation remebering that most of their early eighties albums had topped the reggae charts for weeks at a time.That is a very good introductory album to the Wailing Souls sound and although some of the tracks are repeated here do not let that put you off.Let me explain why:
This album is simply one of the best roots reggae albums I have ever heard! Inchpinchers

This is the most chilled and mellow roots reggae music. Excellent for falling asleep to and equally good on a loud system with the bass turned up. The entire album is excellent. Particularly good tracks are Tom Sprong, Infidels, and Mass Charlie Grounds (which strangely enough doesn't appear in the track listing here but is on the original vinyl version - i presume an error on the amazon listing).
If I had to throw away all of my reggae music (what a terrible thought!), this would be, without question, the very last album to go.

All Over the World
