Now I may be slightly biased as I was raised with Wally Whyton, but I think this cd is simply marvelous. I just love Wally's warm voice, as does my son, who repeatedly asks for this cd to be played. I see that a previous reviewer complained that this cd was not the same as the original. Well my mother had the foresight to transfer my old Whyton LPs to cd format prior to getting rid of them, which means I've been able to compare them closely -and this recording and the original are very similar. It's true that some of the chat has been lost on this version, but to be honest I prefer it that way. There are only so many times I can listen to Wally explain the five little piggies nursery rhyme without going nuts, so think I will for now on be ... Read More:

Children Songs of Woody Guthrie

As children, my brothers and I only had two albums - the Beatles' White Album (but only record 1!) and Wally Whyton sings Woody Guthrie.

Now thirty years later, I have bought the Wally Whyton CD for my daughter, and despite not hearing the songs for all those years, they sounded as fresh and exciting as they did when I was a child. I played the CD in the car, and found myself singing along word perfect to 'Swimmy swim swim', 'Pick it up', and 'Mail myself to you'.

My husband thought I had discovered good music when he saw the CD case. However, he roared with laughter when he heard me singing along. I just hope that my daughter grows to love the album as much as I did as a child. It makes me feel safe, and verges ... Read More:

We have an old vinyl version of this album handed down through the family. Our daughter (2) loves it. All the songs are very sing-along-able and less irritating than the Tweenies etc. If you're looking for music for toddlers this is it! Well worth the price.
