Good to be Bad, Whitesnake's first album in a long, long time. And whilst it's their best offering since the fantastic '1987'(which wouldn't be difficult, seeing as Slip of the Tounge has to be the WORST album in rock history and Restless Heart was also disappointing) it's overshadowed by the shocking state of David Coverdale's voice.
The frontman from Saltburn by Sea has been my favourite singer for over 25 years and was, I thought, simply untouchable. But, truth be told, his voice is no longer the joy to listen to it has been for most of my life. And that's such a shame, as the songs are strong and well played, if a little over heavy in places. And the lyrically Coverdale is just repeating himself-again. "Over the mountains/across ... Read More:

a great selection of songs by a great band, buy this along with the 1994 greatest hits and the 2004 early years compilation then you would truly have the very best of whitesnake!
Release Date March 12, 2007
I don't think that there can be any doubt that this is the best collection that Whitesnake has put out and captures the feel of early Whitesnake and the rock and bluesy feel perfectly. The really great thing about this record is that whilst it does have a very smooth blues feel, it can appeal to those of us who tend towards the heavy rock end of the scale. DC's voice is simply magnificent and the band as a whole meld together like they were made for each other, unlike the reality of being DC's paid up workmen. My particular favorite part is the Love Hunter solo by Micky Moody, which is still one of my favourite guitar pieces ever. Slide guitar done supremely well. Of course DC had ambitions to do much more with Whitesnake and a collection of middle aged geezers who look ... Read More:

I was atttracted to this album after listening to "Here I Go Again" and bought this album a few weeks later. Initially I just listened to that one song but I gave the other songs a go and I realized why Whitesnake are one of the more popular hard rock bands from the 1980s. "Is This Love?", "Straight For The Heart" and "Don't Turn Away" are all excellent tracks. David Coverdale has a powerful voice that puts many of today's Indie bands to shame and John Sykes is great guitarist and every solo is pleasurable to listen to. "Here I Go Again" is still my favourite track however and Adrian Vandenberg's guest solo on that track is one of the best I've heard. Vandenberg would later appear as a proper member of Whitesnake later on.
Over all, a top notch album.

After two solo albums, David Coverdale assembled a band of substantial talent and experience that would prove impossible to ignore. Jon Lord's keyboard work in particular promotes a sweeping, expansive sound for the early stages of 'Love Hunter'. The album is a triumph for style rather than substance, as the material is good but not great.
'Long Way From Home' is something of a surprise opening. It's hardly rock and roll in nature, more like one of those pop/rock songs designed to appeal to a mass market. Though quite striking, it's no 'Since You Been Gone'. 'Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues' and 'Help Me Thro' The Day' are much more substantial, slow burners given atmosphere by background organ. The quality thereafter is variable. 'You 'n' Me' is an uptempo ... Read More:

From a simpler time when rock ruled the airwaves - T.V. on the radio - this superb collection from the classic 'snake line up has been dusted off and shined up for the new millenium with some interesting tho' hardly essential bonus cuts to fill up the disc space. This album is more than a quarter of a century old, and is probably the start of D.C. having one eye on the U.S. The unpolitically correct sentiments expressed within the ever so subtle cover typify the cock rock attitude of Mr. Coverdale and the boys. Don't get me wrong this music is great - the twin attack of Moody and Marsden (the original and best), the solid rhythm section of Murray and Paice, and the majestic keyboard work of Jon Lord, topped off with THE voice. Coverdale at the peak of his game blending blues ... Read More:

Don't get me wrong - this album is a great place to start listening to Whitesnake - just DON'T buy the 2007 remasters if you value the top range of your hearing! I have compared the tracks back to back with the 25th Anniversary versions (2003/2004) and the new remasters sound AWFUL! Far too bright in the mix and downright painful. I am not alone here - reviews on the DP website back me up.
Really looking forward to these CD's but feel really let down by poor remastering

I love all Whitesnake albums so am probably biased, but this is great, the reissue is good and gives us newer fans the chance to buy whitesnake music this time round!
