Producer and rapper RZA told a Danish interviewer that the album he's the most proud of is this one, "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)", and it is hard to disagree with him.
What is there to say about such an essential hip hop album that hasn't been said? One classic track leads to another on this 1993 release, and today, in the year of 2008, the price is so low there are no excuses on not owning it. Even if you hate hip hop, this record may be the one to start out with, combining primarily simple and catchy beats with the funny, yet hardcore, lyrical masterpieces each member presents us with in each track.

This album has you in two minds. The first time I listened to it I thought it was o.k but nothing special. But after a few listens, it just gets to you. Its hard to explain but you will like it more on the 2nd or 3rd listen. Some of the beats are crazy and untouchable. R.I.P ODB.

Wu Tang Forever

Why anyone has any interest in this sort of noise is beyond me. There is no melody, it is rhythmically repetitive and cliched, lyrically it is boring, dirivitive, full of childsh rhymes, says nothing positive, sounds aggressive and there is little or no chord structure at all. Sounds like a million wasps following a thousand fire engines in a war zone. Dreadful. Woeful as a 'music' form.

RZA,Method man & co. display the styles that have made this group legends in the industry.

Although, each member is lethal in their own solo work/collabarations, surely most would agree that when they come together, the sparks really fly.

Most of the famous tracks are on hear to keep the fans (myself included) happy. Jungle/ Drum & Bass listeners will also recognise many of the old skool samples.

You need this in your collection.

Don't know why so many people are down on this album because it's pretty damn good. Love the Curtis Mayfield bit at the start of the album and the use of classic soul for the track Life Changes. Although this is a different sound to other Wu albums, it still has that dark and dangerous feel which is what has always drawn us to them.

Wu-Chronicles Vol.1

Essentially 'Chronicles' is a collection of sixteen tracks that feature Wu members but which were originally released on other artists albums. Some of the tracks were originally featured on Wu Tang solo albums, but others come from releases by artists such as Notorious BIG, Tha Alkaholiks and Mobb Deep.

The collection begins with '4th Chamber', which is lifted from Gza's peerless 'Liquid Swords' LP. Even today it remains a superb track. The fuzzy guitar meshes uncomfortably with the razor-sharp beat making the track one of the Wu Tang's crowning moments. 'Cold World' is also lifted from 'Liquid Swords' and its Rza remix is included here.
