Here's a man who sees life before him and comes up with the songs to suit.
I mean for Godssakes-My baby lies all over me is only kept away from suggestiveness because "lies" isn't spelt "lyes" in the lay down sense!!Bob Dylan did worse didn't he?!
Down boy down-well yes I suppose he could have explained this to the Church by saying it was about training his pet dog.And Keep on churning till the butter comes was "sort of like a song about working in the dairy".I mean this guy was into social comment before it was social comment!
He looks friendly enough-not like those dangerous looking dudes like Leadbelly.However his version of Good Rockin' tonight was a cover of a Roy Brown hit of 1948 so don't blame him for ... Read More:

A blues shouter supreme, Wynonie Harris was right up there with Big Joe Turner and Jimmy Rushing. This immense 4cd box set contains all his recordings from his first in 1944, with the Lucky Millinder band,to the middle of his prolific and successful period with the King label in 1950. Sadly underrated today, Wynonie by 1950 was one of the biggest RnB stars. A big personality with a voice to match Wynonie was an irrestable presence. Good as his early recordings for Aladdin and Apollo were, the big hits didn't come till after he moved to King in 1947. "Good Rockin' Tonight", "Good Morning Judge", "I Want My Fanny Brown" and many more beside were great records full of humour and sass. Unfortunately some of the later King sessions have been ...
