A band that are quite under-rated, this CD asks the question WHY!!!!! They already sound like one of the greatest bands ever when you hear that they first had Eric Clapton, then Jeff Beck and finally Jimmy Page, and you don't even have to click on the soundbite of New York City. The material ranges from live high-powered R&B to early psychedelic pop. Occaisionly too poppy for Eric Clapton who left due to the popiness of For Your Love, they unfortunately had a member who joined 10CC. They probably started the hard-rock/heavy metal movement, heard in Led Zeppelin who were basically a revised version of the New Yardbirds.

This CD is also a brilliant bargain I strongly recomend it to any fan of rocked-up blues or bluesed-up rock music. ... Read More:

Much like the impact Jimi Hendrix had on those of us 'of age' to remember his first ever UK TV appearance on Top Of The Pops, and how utterly gobsmacking it was as rock history had never witnessed such a trail-blazing comet before; and likewise, this album had much the same effect when released in 1966. With both events happening in the same year, amongst many others, it can quickly be appreciated by the more 'junior' rock music fan / student exactly how earth-shattering and radical this album, and the era in rock, was. The Yardbirds' new CD "Live at B.B. King Blues Club" is a must-have for fans of the band and anyone that loves great rock and roll. I wasn't at this show but was lucky enough to see them in Los Angeles recently. This CD captures a killer live show full of classic songs performed by a band that can still rock. What I like about the live tracks are the added harmonica solos found through-out. This guy can play!!
If you love the classic songs of the Yardbirds... get it. If you love the White Stripes' new tunes but need more... buy this!

Roger The Engineer 40th Anniversary Special Edition Box Remastered

The Yardbirds released their first, eponymous STUDIO LP (aka "Roger the Engineer") in 1966. It charted in both the UK and the USA, peaking at #20 and #52 respectively (although there were differences in the track listing for both countries.) The single taken from the album, "Over Under Sideways Down", peaked at # 10 in the UK and at #13 in the US.

Soon after Jimmy Page joined the foil, they recorded a single featuring the stellar "Happening Ten Years Time Ago" (Beck and Page on guitars) coupled with "Psycho Daisies" (the latter with Page on bass) which peaked at #43 in the UK. In the USA, the chosen B-side was "The Nazz Are Blue", which charted #30 there. This hardly reflected their exceptional artistic value.
