This is a fantastic complete collection of the fantastic 80's syntheseiser duo Yazoo (Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke). It contains both of their albums, Upstairs At Eric's (No. 2 in 1982) and You And Me Both (No. 1 in 1983) and a third CD of A-B Sides and 12" Remixes and a DVD of both the albums in 5.1 Mix, Promotional Videos, A Short Film and Yazoo At The BBC.
It contains the classic "Only You" which made No. 2 in the charts in April 1982 and my favourite track of theirs "The Other Side Of Love" which made No. 13 in November 1982. The 7" and 12" mixes are on CD3 of this collection as it did not appear on either albums.
If you are a fan of the 80's then this is a must buy for your collection, you won't be disappointed. ... Read More:

Fair play, there are some very fine tracks on this album. Her voice and his playing are absolute top draw quality.
The last three tracks are remixes and this was a big mistake. The superior originals are already elsewhere on the album. It might of been better to include additional material from their two very fine previos albums.
All said and done, a fine addition to your collection.

Having listened several times to this remaster the sound is really good and it's great to have the original album tracklisting reissued for the first time on CD (no "Situation" replacing either "Tuesday" or the very abstract "I Before E"). The latter track may not show off Alison's vocals in any way (but it does involve a couple of the crew's mothers speaking some very strange dialogue in each channel) but it BELONGED on the album, however difficult it was when compared to the rest of the tracks.
The release itself therefore merits 5 stars, but it would have been 6 if they could've kept a couple of bonuses (like the 12" of "Don't Go" and maybe the US "Situation" as of the same period), rather than purely releasing these on the completists 4 disc box ... Read More:

Being a child of the 1980's I often revisit bands of this era for a bit of nostalgia.
I still like the new-wave stuff and it seems artists like Calvin Harris are bringing the early "Roland" sounding synthesizer back for a new generation to groove on.
New wave, if you are unfamiliar with the term, was a style of music born around 1979 to mark the end of Punk Rock, Disco, as we knew it in the late 70's and cheesy pop records usually sung by men with moustaches and women in nice blouses.
Synthesizers were the new technology and the sound was born from that, (e.g. Gary Numan, The Human League and Soft Cell) to name a few. The excellent track "Goodbye 70's" is basically saying goodbye to all that stuff and hello to the new wave.
