Perpetual Flame

by: Yngwie Malmsteen

Release Date October 13, 2008
Well the Flame still burns as bright as it ever did, the Master Musician has riffed the Stratocaster into the Stratosphere.*
* *
*The album starts of with a nice classically influenced movement, then all hell is unleashed, with riffs and solo's flying from the fingers of Yngwie. The album is well and truly in flames by the time you get to the second track, and this is maintained throughout the whole musical journey that is Perpetual Flame.*
*Some notable changes come through the speakers by the time you get to /MAGIC CITY. The bluesy feel is enhanced by sitars and the whole psychedelic feel is mindblowing. This has to be without doubt one of the best tracks Yngwie has ever done, the pure Magic from the Wizards Fret board of ... Read More:

Rising Force

by: Yngwie Malmsteen

Release Date February 15, 1989
well... amazing...
i got it from amazon, came with bubble rap and invoice,
great condition

the music is stunning
he captured teh essence of renaissance, middle ages, 1600's music so met
the album isnt too short, its only 8 tracks a couple being around 6 to 8 minutes long
what i didnt like was teh lack of bass guitar sound in teh back ground, it kinda left out some effects, but i turned teh bass boost on, which helped.

the sogn with singing
... wellll
theyre ok, the riffs do sound like neo clasical/speed metal
and teh signign is loud and high pitched
but it seems they stuggled with the melody goign with teh lyrics.

but apart from this
this album will make ... Read More:

Yngwie Malmsteen - Far Beyond The Sun [2006]

by: Yngwie Malmsteen

Release Date January 22, 2007
As soon as I saw that this DVD was going to be released soon, it immediately made it to my 'must have' list! And now I finally have it in my hands and have watched it three times already.

The first thing that struck me was the amazing front cover artwork. I could sit down and watch the cover for hours. The menu artwork is inspired by the front cover artwork. Everytime you click on a menu item, the artwork animates, disappears and another artwork appears as the background to the submenu. The artwork on this DVD is simply brilliant and tastefully done.

The DVD itself is made of two of Malmsteen's most flamboyant live recorded concerts: Live in Japan 85 and Live In Leningrad 89. The first thing that amazes me is the audio visual quality. The remastered ... Read More:

Odyssey

by: Yngwie Malmsteen Joe Lynn Turner

Release Date March 18, 1996
Fantastic songs, great guitar! Yngwie is a bit of a widdler and normally his solos all sound the same but on this album, for some reason, he pulled out all the stops and found MELODIES from somewhere! The songs are excellent, no filler whatsoever and the vocals superb. A once in a lifetime album, he's never come anywhere near repeating this gem.

Trilogy

by: Yngwie Malmsteen

Release Date October 01, 1999
Well this was my first Malmsteen cd,i thought the cover was cool and didn't have a clue who he was and someone i was teaching how to play said i mightlike him as i loved Randy Rhodes guitaring. So yeah lets put things into perspective here,it isn't a brand new release.it'd quite old, Malmsteen released his first album when he was 19 and he wa like 22 when he did this, you may believe there are much better songs out there but in the day back then this was really outstanding stuff.
The 3rd release has the best production of the first 3 albums, yeah it still had the dungeons and dragons style lyrics, but didn't dio do that for quite a while, and Blind Guardian still do,it aint a crime folks? We're of course going back to 1986 here when Metallica had just released Master Of Puppets and i was just ... Read More:

The Yngwie Malmsteen Collection

by: Yngwie Malmsteen

Release Date March 18, 1996
Yngwie's concert at Poole Arts Centre probably 16 years ago now was the first I'd taken my then 'budding guitarist' son to see. Without doubt, Malmsteen is the best showman rock has ever had since Jimi Hendrix, and this is a fine selection of his works, but there is really nothing better than seeing the man live in concert; it is where he excels, it is where he shines; so where is he now? Perhaps he became tired of having to throw the guitar around his back and catch it again and carry on playing, or throwing his guitar for the roadie to catch, or wearing the Hendrix-style military jacket, or smashing guitars up, or whatever? Perhaps he just became tired of the treadmill rock 'n' roll becomes?
It was only his classical music background which stopped him being Jimi Hendrix Mark II or a tribute act for the man, ... Read More:

Marching Out

by: Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force

Release Date November 23, 1988
Okay this is Yngwie's 2nd release and one of his better ones. I do believe myself that Randy Rhodes started off the neo-classical revoloution and Yngwie carried on the torch after Randy's untimely death. And boy did he carry it on. His first album didn't have alot of vocals and was more look at me,look how amazing i am. This is more song orientated, the production is alot more fuzzier than the first album but it doesn't sound that bad. Jeff Scott Soto returned to do the vocals again(and that's a rariety for any malmsteen album 2 albums with 1 singer). It's a great album and shows Yngwie can write some good tunes as well as shred too. It starts off with 'i'll see the light tonight' which is pretty fast for yngwie and he still plays this alot,it's a good song catchy,Jeff doing some great vocals to accompany the guitar work ... Concerto for Electric Guitar

by: Yngwie Malmsteen

Release Date March 12, 2007
Yngwie Malmsteen, a guitarist who combined classical music with rocking fast speed electric guitar and quite simply, made something special. Ive got a pretty hefty chunk of Malmsteen's many albums, and this is the greatest one next to his debut Rising Force. This is what malmsteen is all about, not crappy rock riffs with boring repeated solo's, which unfortunately is what malmsteen has been bringing forward with his last many albums, this is epic music, and my favourite Malmsteen album. The tracks are great, it falls short a little near the end, where it becomes a bit too classical, at least for my liking, but overall its an amazing album. Everyone who considers themselves a music fan should check this out, it isnt just a guitarist rocking away, this is something very unique which might surprise you, check it out.

Unleash the Fury

by: Yngwie Malmsteen

Release Date July 25, 2005
A marked return to form for the neoclassical speed wizard. At over 70 minutes, one might be forgiven for worrying that some of the tracks might feel like ones that should have been left out. Fortunately this is not the case; however much of the strength of this album only becomes apparent upon repeated listening.

I have been a fan of Yngwie's output for 20 years now, but not an uncritical one. Despite singlemindedly following his own musical direction since day one, there have been Malmsteen releases in recent years which have been far less rewarding than Unleash The Fury.

Personally, I'd recommend this as a great starting point for anyone unfamiliar with his work.
