This album is just BEAUTIFUL. There is a perfect mix of slow/ mid-tempo& upbeat numbers. But the stand out thing throughout the album is Wills faultless vocal prowess. His voice is just spinetingling in its smoothness and purity.
Our best British live male artist as well. Go & see him on tour & you will be blown away.

I received a promo copy of this at the weekend, I always look forward to hearing anything by neil young and this was no exception. Looking at the track listing its a mash of old buffalo springfield tunes and songs due to be release on his first solo record.
what you notice on first listen are the sparse arrangements and also how good Neils vocals sound, something that was lacking on Neils first album as it was lost in the mix.
The best thing about the album are the moments between the songs, hearing Neil talk to the audience about taking drugs when working in a book store for two weeks, or towards the end when he asks for requests... how I'd love to see neil live and him taking requests!!

This is one of those classic albums that everyone has to own, and it is a very special record.
There are so many brilliant songs on this album; personal favourites are Out On The Weekend, Heart Of Gold and Old Man, but every track is just as brilliant as the previous and next.
The overall feel is just mellow and relaxed in terms of musical arrangement and vocal delivery, but the lyrics are intense in their depths of heartfelt emotion.
It sounds too simple to be this good, with very modest and unassuming instruments and a harmonica, which adds to the feel of the heart of the American countryside/prairies.
This album may be 36 years old but it still sounds so fresh and is still relevant now.

This album was on constant play throughout an American road-trip of mine in a camper van from festival to festival, state to state, gradually heading westward to California. I was 18 at the time and the year was 1989. The start of the journey began at the Woodstock festival, twenty years on, (opened with a speech from Jimi Hendrix's father and a set by Richie Havens). As a consequence it is drenched in memories.
This album has it all. Steeped in the golden glow of the times, it covers many areas of being, heartache, visions, psychedelic thoughts, glimpses of pastoral idylls, all set within a hybrid of folk/country/rock that is distinctively Neil's own. His thin nasally voice is perfect throughout, the harmonies sublime, the quality of ... Read More:

Grace, Will Young's second single from his widely acclaimed album "Let It Go" is a rousing, mid tempo number, beautifully produced by Richard "Biff" Stannard. Will's amazing vocals soar over clever orchestration and that very catchy OOH, OOH hook sticks in your head.Someone is getting their "comeuppance" according to Will in this excellent second offering from Let It Go.

I had the pleasure of seeing Neil Young live in Kent last weekend. It was great to see he is still on tremendous form after all these years. With a catalogue of about thirty albums it is difficult for newcomers to his work to know where to start their collection, but this compilation covers a lot of his best known music. In fact according to the man himself it was compiled according to sales of the songs, airplay and known download history which gives the track selection credibility.
The collection begins with three of Neil Youngs' key songs- two epics which demonstrate the remarkable craftsmanship behind his output (Down by the River and Cowgirl in the Sand) and the shorter, harder edged 'Cinnamon Girl', an instantly catchy number. These songs are all taken ... Read More:

I listen to an expansive range of musical styles and ages, from "The Classics" right through to Metal. Now I'm not calling myself an expert in the field by any means, but you can usually get a gut feeling pretty quickly about the effort, imagination and skill put into any work - and this album, from the first listen - give you audio pleasure at every turn. It just oozes skillfull musicianship and beautifully crafted harmonies. The type of work that will always be considered a classic and will always be replayed by the listener over and over again. As for the opinions about Young's involvement etc - it really doesn't matter - CSN were already fantastic - adding in Y was simply a case of adding an extra ingredient of a similar style - and for me - on this album - his presence ... Years ago, I bought 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' on the recommendation of a trusted friend, who told me it was considered an idiosyncratic masterpiece in the vein of 'Astral Weeks,' though musically miles apart. Whereas I liked the album, I was never the biggest fan of extended musical jams, which 'Cowgirl In The Sand' and 'Down By The River' sounded like to me. In short, I couldn't love it, and I already knew 'Harvest,' 'After The Goldrush' and Youngs work with Buffalo Springfield particularly well. What I was looking for was that rare nugget that makes you fall in love with music all over again. Then, recently, I was drawn in by the effusive reviews of the reissued 'John, The Wolfking Of L.A.' by John Phillips, and it is a fairly consistent and good portrait of the West ... Read More:
