 Rating:  - Army Of Me - Album ReviewBjork's album Army of Me is not a usual remix and covers album. First off, it is for charity; the profits will go to Tsunami victims. In addition, the contributors are mostly unknown artists who had to compete and were selected by Bjork out of over 600 participants. So, it is also a kind of talent spotting record and an opportunity for young emerging musicians to show their work. Given that Bjork and Graham Massey chose the artists, it is not surprising that some of the songs are really far removed from Bjork's original 1995 single Army of Me. Both Massey and the Icelandic star have an open ear for originality and invention. I didn't think it would be very good. But as a huge Björk fan, I went and bought it, as anything with the word Björk on it, I must own. This album has 20 versions of the song. All the artists sent their tracks through Björk's website, and the best ones were selected to be on this CD. How different can 20 tracks of the same song be? Amazing, they all sound like different songs. Track 1 is a a heavy rock version of it, by a band called Interzone. They sound like Marilyn Manson, it is probably the best track on the album.
