If you are deciding whether to first buy this or the "Skylarking" compilation, buy this first. There are only two tracks that overlap:"Skylarking" & "Money, Money", which are both superb, "Skylarking" being Andy's most crucial track, a peak example both of his songwriting powers and of his heavenly falsetto vocals. "Skylarking" does widen the scope by including a couple of examples from Andy's collaborations with Massive Attack but the reason I recommend this compilation is the pure value for money: you get 20 superb tracks (62 mins)as opposed to 14 tracks (48 mins). "Better still, buy both!

Roots reggae & dub from jamaican legend Horace Andy. You can't go wrong with this album if you are familiar with his other works. Highlights are: "Stop The Fuss", "Spying Glass" and "Let's Live In Love".
Release Date November 01, 1999
Compared to his string of hits for Clement "Coxsone" Dodd on the early 1970s, and the occasional flashes of inspiration emanating from the stables of Bunny Lee and Channel One in the later half of the decade, the songs on the "vocal" album here are far from "Sleepy" Andy's best. By 1977 he was tending to spread his talent somewhat thinly, and when he arrived at Harry J Studios to cut this album with Everton da Silva and the hungry town All stars he had only a few truly memorable new songs, including "Government Land" and "In The Light". Apart from the remakes of "Problems" (on the "Mr Bassie" rhythm) and "Fever" much of the rest is filler, and Andy Bashford's shrieking lead guitar sounds jarring on many tracks.
Release Date October 01, 1999
I'm not a big reggae fan and this is the only Horace Andy album I own so I can't compare it to his other work. Still, this album finds itself on my turntable on regular occasions. It's upbeat and soulful enough to party to and laidback enough for late night listening. Highlights are 'Fever', 'Mr Bassie', 'Slacky Tidy', 'Ain't No Sunshine' and the previously unreleased 'Come Into My Life'. If you're just looking for some truly decent reggae then buy this. If you don't like it then you must be deaf!
