Not rubbish. How could any Emmy Lou Harris album ever be, but be returning to producer Brian Ahern, she has effectively gone back to the sound if her 1976 album "Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town", and that's one step too far back to the future. After the progressive nature of her last three albums, Emmylou has obviously decided she doesn't want her rock fans any more, and to say the same thing again, she's gone backwards.
Make no mistake though, this album is beautifully played and exquisitely sung (who would have expected anything else) but after a few listens, I can't remember any of the songs.
A huge disappointment, and if in any doubt buy "Quarter Moon", it's fabulous.

Other My Morning Jacket albums have hinted at the bands eclectic approach to their music and influences, but none of their studio albums have ventured this far into new territory.Evil Urges is the sound of a band at its most playfully creative, and the results are a joyous mix of the expected and the slightly surreal.Like the Flaming Lips before them My Morning Jacket are not afraid to take chances and hope their audience keeps up.
Perhaps the most controversial track is "Highly Suspicious" which steals from Prince, with added oddness in its chorus. However this is just one surprise as Evil Urges builds to the climatic modern space rock epic "Good Intentions" that closes this uplifting, but mind boggling set of songs. It takes guts to break ... These days, Ry Cooder is a musical novelist and I happen to believe that his format of album making is quietly revolutionary. Here is another great example of what a concept album should be like. Mysterious, Iconic, Intruiging and totally musical.
In an age where you select a few tracks of an album for a download, it's quite incredible that we have an artist who makes you realise what a lazy musical culture we live in.
It's time to wake up People !!! Music is still alive ...

Welcome back Mr Helm.
Warm greetings to you.
.....and what a treasure it is that you've brought with you.
The years fall away more quickly than any of us can control
but memory holds an esteemed and special place for you in
your troubled country's musical history.
Despite your tribulations the voice is in good shape.
Great shape truth be told !
These 13 songs give meaning to the notion of TRUE GRIT
in more ways than one.
Back to basics, no-nonsense, solid-gold authenticity
from first to last.
From the finger-picking opening lamentation of 'False Hearted Lover Blues'
to the heart-breaking closing strains of 'Wide River To Cross' we are
clearly in the ... Read More:

In the beginning the way into Dylan was via Peter Paul & Mary, the Turtles, the Byrds and Johnny Cash.
And commercially electric Dylan was just right.
This CD is just a sampler and introduction to the Art of Dylan. If you want more you get the original albums on CD.All but one have been on catalog since CDs began.
My favorite Dylan song is Can you please crawl out your window.
Thus this double CD would only be of interest if there was a booklet with it and its by no means the only one of its kind as the most recent-titled DYLAN and in 3 different editions -comes with a picture book.
Today's Dylan collector needs plenty of money and plenty of room

What are you thinking? "Oh no, not another female singer-songwriter!" I know, I know, they're everywhere aren't they? There were five on my bus this morning. But if some of them (including some of the higher profile ones) are pretty formulaic, or plain rubbish, Brandi Carlisle is well up the quality scale. To me this could be an album made by Beth Orton after a boozy session with Bonnie Raitt backstage at a Paul McCartney gig. So you get folky pop-rock with an abrasive element. It's pretty accessible, no bad thing, and not forgettable. Brandi Carlisle here shows good old-fashioned songwriting and performing skills. No gimmicks, plenty of talent.

There have been Eagles compilations before but this by far the best. It contains all the songs that could be found on earlier British (Very best of) and American (Greatest hits) compilations, plus a few songs never before included on any of them. And everything has been digitally re-mastered, sounding better than ever.
All the famous songs are here including Desperado, Take it to the limit, Lying eyes, Hotel California, Tequila sunrise, New kid in town and Best of my love to name just a few.
Aside from the obvious songs, you also get Please come home for Christmas (a song that has since become a standard), two songs from their Hell freezes over album (Love will keep us alive and Get over it), their recently recorded Hole in the world and several great album tracks, of which ... It's interesting reading all these other reviews, which tend to be either very positive or very negative. How anyone can possibly be the slightest bit disappointed with Long Road Out Of Eden is beyong me. To me this is one of their strongest releases and damn impressive. Some complain about its length, and that some of these songs shouldn't have been included, but apart from the cover of the dull Guilty Of The Crime I certainly do not agree. Others complain that some of the ballads are too soft and sentimental, but that was always a part of the Eagles sound (The Best Of My Love, I Can't Tell You Why, etc.), so - again! - I don't agree. I wouldn't want to be without Do Something (excellent), You Are Not Alone (very pretty melody) or I Don't Want To Hear Any More. The folk ballad Center Of The Universe ... Read More:

I just bought this CD because I wanted the song 'Bad Moon Rising' which I originally heard on the soundtrack to 'An American Werewolf in London,' one of my all time favourite films. I have loved this song ever since I first saw the film as a kid but never actually owned it myself. When listening to the rest of the CD in the car I realised how familiar I was with a lot of CCR music and how brilliant they actually were.
I don't know a huge amount about the history of rock music but it sounds to me like Elvis, Hendrix and the Doors all rolled into one bluesy rock n' roll band. 'Put a Spell On You' is a great cover of a Screamin' Jay Hawkins song, done justice by Fogerty's snarling vocals. 'Bad Moon Rising' is a perfect rock n' roll number, as is 'Fortunate Son' which sounds like an anti-Vietnam ... Read More:
