Is it just me or is this album a little well how can I pout it "a did of a rip of". What do I mean? Well don't get me wrong I am not a massive Cold Play fan, love some songs others OK, but when listening to some of these song I just feel I have heard them before, like "42" a bit of the Beatles/John Lennon? Sorry to be sad but 27 second in Imagine? did they just copy and paste that in.

Cemeteries of London well sorry but even though I like it, it smacks of a mix between Del-Amitri and well is that a bit of good old Chris de-Burgh's Ferryman in there too?

Life in Technicolor a pretty good song but a little Kenny Chesney. I can go on as some song have bits of Genesis in the 70's. Again I say I think the Album ... Read More:

We all know Duffy as a rapper who may not have a great message like Mos Def, Talib, Common or Lupe, but her lyricism and ability to make even the simplest words sound unique is great. She is usually fast paced, rhymes extremely well, and all in all, puts herself on a level with B.I.G. and Pac.

This CD brings her back down to earth a little.

This album is unique. It is different. It is not your usual four verses and a chorus and a middle eight, with a rock beat, or a disco beat, or any beat, so don't try dancing to it. It is a group of musicians that seem to take a title and words and then going where they want musically, enjoying themselves along the way. Who does it sound like? Everybody and nobody. I can hear CSN&Y and as solo artists, I can hear The Beach Boys, I can hear Paul Simon. I can hear some Gregorian Chants. It is all over the place encased in baroque folk rock songs, what the hell is that you might say. I don't know and I still don't so I will keep listening. I'm not a folk music fan (Roy Harper excepted) but I bought this because I liked Freedom Fields. On first listening I thought 'yep, Freedom Fields with a bit of punch' but wasn't overwhelmed. I then happened to see SL live at a local music festival last week. It was loud, the upright bass hit you like a bass drum, and the overall performance was exceptional.
My advice is to play this CD loud to get the full benefit. I would now rate it 4 stars rather than 3, simply by playing it louder. (I know I could have played it loud in the first place but I'm a slave to my prejudices).

The Seldom Seen Kid

"Grounds for Divorce" and "One Day Like This" are streets ahead of the rest on this dreary, forgettable album. Anyone who has the arrogance or stupidity to kick a set off with the woeful "Starlings" fully deserves residency in the "Where Are They Now?" file.

I love Sigur Ros, and this is a fine album but I cannot help but feeling disappointed. It is indeed another step towards more mainstream audiences, with noise levels toned down and awkward silences ridden of - but this isn't the problem, it's only natural that this would have happened. The problem is that the pain is gone, and without it their music is just some interesting arrangements and atmospheric tunes.

Takk was more commercial that the masterpiece that is Ágaetis Byrjun, but the levels of emotion remained high. Even the last release before this album, the single Hljomalind, which was their first proper pop song structurally, retained some grittiness.

Well, well, well, where have MGMT come from? They seem to have just popped up out of no man's land!

I have to say, when I first heard them on Radio 1 I was a little unsue. But after seeing them live and listening to their album I just can't stop listening to it.

The whole album is filled with hits, Time To Pretend, Weekend Wars, Electric Feel and Kids to name a few but to be honest I should really list them all!

They kind of remind me of The Who!

Amazing band, amazing album - a must buy

Another new release, another raft (?) of 5 star Amazon customer reviews.

Is it only me that feels that the majority of reviews on Amazon are given by die-hard fans who would give a 5 star review for a CD of their beloved artist breaking wind for 2 hours. The trouble is that this makes a mockery of the whole review process and ends up hindering rather than helping the average purchaser separating the Tom Waits CDs from the Robbie Williams CDs. The only solution I find is to look at all reviews by a given person before taking any notice of a given rating in an attempt to see if they have good taste, well, similar taste to yourself anyway.
