Although this is worth a listen for diehard Conchord fans, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else. A big part of the appeal of their HBO show, as well as the concert clips I've seen, is the contrast between Bret and Jemaine's dead-pan "normal" personalities, and their exuberant and fanciful songs. Since a radio show obviously has no visual component, you'd at least expect performances of the songs to be front and center, but it's not the case. The songs are rarely if ever presented complete and uninterrupted, often stepped on by Rob Brydon's otherwise decent narration, or faded out and talked over by other characters, or cut such that the entire song never appears in the show. Contrived as it was, I much prefer the way the HBO show built the ... Read More:

... of buying three CDs of two men singing comic songs.
Don't be.
Flanders and Swann's "comic songs" are different from most. They have bite, wit, character, fire and - just below the surface - sometimes profound meaning. These are no "ordinary" comic songs.
Neither is Swann's accompaniment at the piano ordinary.

My husband is a driving instructor so I felt this CD was a "must have" gift for him.
We are both were familiar with Bob Newhart's brilliantly funny sketches from years back - once hard - never forgotten. It's not only what he puts into his sketches that are so funny, as what he leaves out, with well timed pauses skillfully setting the scene in the listener's imagination.
The Driving Instructor is a pure classic - I defy anyone not to laugh have until they have tears rolling down their cheeks. The Grace L Ferguson Airline (and Storm Door co) is brilliantly funny also, as is the Retirement Party and the Bus Drivers' School.
This is wonderfully funny humour which still works today and very cleverly constructed ... Read More:

Two old blokes swear a lot. You certainly need to brace yourself for this, it is truely disgusting but also funny and liberating. There is no check on political correctness but on the other hand they do not pick on anyone or group in particular, everybody gets it without prejudice. You will certainly cringe at some point but you may also find yourself laughing

I was surprised when I first listened to this tape. I was expecting a traditional Agatha Christie type format in the manner I was used to hearing. The three stories have been very much updated in terms of the setting of the stories and the language and general setting of the plots. This does not in any way detract from the enjoyment, rather it enhances the quality of the tales, indicating that the original format transfers very easily to a more up to date setting. The acting in all the stories is excellent, and the plots take a very interesting and unexpected turn, particularly towards the end, which is of course what one would expect from the author. I thoroughly recommend this tape, and would offer it for sale as second hand if I didn't know that I would ... Read More:

I hadn't seen all of the videos on here when I bought it for my other half, but it is cracking. Unsuprisingly there's a great deal of chuckles to be had, as the videos are in a very similar vein to the songs - in short, if you like the music I reckon there's a good chance you'll like the videos. And to have them all in one place and not via YouTube is a nice little luxury.
The one criticism is that the selection seems to have been put together just before 'White and Nerdy' - I was hoping to get a little bit of dancing Donny on this DVD, but it was not to be. Maybe next time...

`Monty Python Sings' is a fantastic album collecting all the songs that populated the world of Python together in one place. It doesn't give a totally balanced view of the group with Eric Idle being the most musically versatile of the group, leading him into ventures such as The Rutles with Neil Innes of Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band fame. Again the balance is towards the eighties output of the Python's with the majority of songs from the Contractual Obligation album which included a great wealth of song writing and also the Meaning of Life soundtrack which as a movie conceived as a series of sketches relied on a number of set piece song and dance numbers.
Obvious songs from the original Flying Circus are of course present, `The Lumberjack Song' and `Money Song' ... Read More:

This album is a must for an Derek and Clive fans. Cook's rantings are worse than ever and Dudley barely gets a word in - but you woulr probably pay £5 for an album of him corpsing anyway. I consider 'Come Again' as their best recording - with some highly quotable sketches, whereae Ad Nauseam has a few tracks you just want to skip.
Just a word of warning - expect to be using the F and C word prefusely following a day of Derek and Clive!!
