At last, quality reissues of all the Bonzos' albums - it's hard to believe this was the only one previously issued separately on CD. The Cornology box valiantly collected (nearly) all the previously available material into one place but these reissues are the real deal - superbly remastered and packaged, augmented with bonus tracks that are worth listening to more than twice, and featuring extremely droll sleeve notes by surviving joint chief Bonzo Neil Innes.
The Bonzos started in fine form with this classic, with all the main strands of their act - covers of 20s & 30s novelty tunes, surreal lunacy, merciless parodies of trad jazz and contemporary pop and rock and general musical comedic genius. Standouts are many, including ... Read More:

At last, quality reissues of all the Bonzos' albums - it's hard to believe that the only one previously issued separately on CD was Gorilla. Doughnut was the second Bonzos album, and the first on which they sank their razor sharp parodic teeth into rock music in a big way - while it is extremely diverse stylistically, the music hall and novelty dance band covers and trad jazz parodies to be found on the preceding ... Read More:

I first listened to this in a friends bedroom on vinyl - I laughed so hard that I got him to record it onto tape for me....i then proceeded to play chosen segments of this down my CB radio to annoy all!
A great sketch that lasts a whole album....I bought this and had to wait many weeks to get a copy from the USA - i wanted it that much I did not mind the wait...if you have not heard this and you remember the young ones, then this is just for you!
Release Date July 30, 1999

Victor Borge was a unique performer, combining the skills of a concert pianist with the timing and insights of a great comedian. Always impeccable, the complete gentleman, Borge's was a sophisticated, intelligent humour, humane and humanistic, though not without teeth - acerbic, witty, fast, but delivered with a voice which is as warm and silky as a glass of Drambuie. A Dane, he escaped ahead of the Nazi invasion and settled in the USA, rapidly becoming an adopted son ... and quickly establishing a role as an international treasure. He made regular appearances on British television in the 1950's, 60's, and 70's, and his comic routines were regularly played on the radio. Borge was part of my childhood, and I'm sure his memory is cherished by many of my generation. Read More:

few words could sum up the master of parody weird al and this cd gathers some of his greatest hits together in one glorious volume with hits such as like a surgeon, dare to be stupid, eat it and i lost on jeopardy. the only thing that i could possibly grumble about is the fact that other songs such as another one rides the bus and my bologna are missing which is a shame however if you are new to weird al then you have to buy this!

Having read the existing reviews there's little I can do but echo the sentiments expressed.
I bought my first copy of 'Gorilla' in 1968 and played it to death along with'Doughnut'. This compilation drags me unresisting back to the sixties and seventies - maybe it should be marketed as an elixir of youth.
I can't think of a single track I don't like, but several I think outstanding:'Death Cab for Cutie', 'We Were Wrong', 'Sport','Quiet Talks and Summer Walks'and 'the wonderful 'Bad Blood', which should give a valuable insight into the state of my mind.
Have a bad day? Then just Bonzo it, although whether you should play it when driving or operating machinery is open to debate. Worth any amount of money, but don't come round for it yet boys.

A good question, that.... there is nothing here that hasn't been issued before, either on "The World of the Goons" (which had all the Decca titles together with tracks by Ray Ellington and Max Geldray) and various Peter Sellers and/or Spike Mlligan compilations. Yet this is the FIRST time ALL the Goon singles have been gathered on one disc and as such is a must for the car or for relaxing to (or both, buy two!)
I have the original 10" LP of Unchained Melodies, and "The World Of The Goons", and the Peter Sellers Collection (where the EMI tracks came out in 1990!) and I still bought this with my own money!
If you are new to the Goons, this is a must buy.
If you aren't new to Spike & Co. it's still worth considering as a unique compilation.
