This is a clasical guitar album recorded by John Williams in his style of ultimate perfection. Don't confuse this with Flamenco Spanish guitar.
Release Date October 06, 2003
as the old saying goes{i may not know art but i know what i like}. i may not be an expert on spanish classical guitar music but this cd is excellent. track 5 disc 1 is 10 minutes of heaven.you may recognise it as the music from the film el cid.there are 1 or 2 tracks that dont quite hit the mark but mostly this is a fantastic compilation album and will satisfy most peoples needs. just relax with a bottle of rioja, turn off your phone and dont answer the door bell. you will be transported back to that little secret tapas bar that only you and your loved one know about. the sevilla feria 05 is where it takes us.

I bought this a couple of years ago and return to it regularly - a sure sign of a good recording. I like the music of Vaughan Williams and this is a good example of his music. The Fantasia was a big surprise - its a lovely setting of some well known carols. John Barrow has a superb baritone voice. The Hodie takes a little more getting into but it is worth the effort. Both choirs and orchestra have good sounds. At this price you can't go wrong!
Release Date October 07, 1996
This CD is unusual, in that it contains many of the shorter and less well known pieces of cello repertoire. There is a wide range of styles, from the serene Song Without Words, to the lively Jota, this CD is well worth listening to. Jacqueline Du Pre's interpretations are lyrical, and her playing is a delight. I don't think that 5 stars can do this justice!

every popular track you remember from the telly and radio, what a wonderful combination. Relaxing, studying or just in need of some real music this is the one for you.

Nice to see that Bela has expanded his classical repertoire from the single piece that he used to play on stage (and on his DVD).
Having been a fan of his for many years and having been fortunate enough to catch him "Live" at The Mean Fiddler" in Harlesden a few years ago, I am delighted to see him go from strength to strength.
He has also moved The Banjo from what was perceived by many to be an instrument of derision to a thing of considerable beauty!
Let's face it, Bela could play anything, if he set his mind to it.His ability and talent seem boundless.
I look forward with anticipation to see where he decides to go from here.

This recording is the perfect introduction to a wide range of sacred choral pieces. The performances are great; especially the ethereal rendition of 'The Lord is my Shepherd', the glorious 'I Was Glad' and the mesmerising Evening Service in C by Stanford - the Nunc Dimittis is outstanding. This CD is a wonderful accompaniment to a relaxed Sunday afternoon - pour yourself a cup of coffee (or better still a large glass of red wine), surround yourself with the Sunday papers, sit back, put on this CD and enjoy!

from: Purcell Collection
Release Date November 28, 1994
This is a superb CD - showing off Purcell's marvellous diverse talent for composing superb music for all occasions - the first part is celebratory, with bright voices at a lively pace. The second part is music for Queen Mary's funeral and is contemplative, solemn and majestic. I loved it - as I love all Purcell music. Glad to hear Classics FM play him more nowadays - previously hardly ever. Anyone who enjoys music by Handel will enjoy this.

This series, produced by EMI in the days of LPs, is one of the great achievements of the gramophone - they rightfully belong up there with the Decca Ring, the EMI Callas series, and any other candidates you care to name. Together they provide a truly comprehensive survey of singing right through the age of recording up to the early days of the LP. Sadly, to the best of my knowledge, only Volumes 3 & 4 have appeared on CD - the very earliest era of recording and the period up to the introduction of electrical recording methods that were originally on Volumes 1 and 2 really deserve to be heard again.
Volume 3, the collection under discussion here, covers the period from 1926-1939. This was a veritable Golden Age of Singing - in Wagner it ... Read More:
