If you can listen to this album without smiling, you have no soul. My favourite tracks are Get A Move On, Midnight Feast, Honeydew, and Fish, but they're all great :-)
Release Date April 16, 2001
I got this on it's release on the strength of the singles "Since I Left You" and "Frontier Psychiatrist". I recently thought I would give it another go. Those two singles are still ace but the rest is a mess of samples and little more. It sounds like the musical equivalent of enough monkeys and a typewriter will produce a Shakespeare, enough samples and DJs will eventually make a decent track. It often sounds like a mess to me. Other reviews have mentioned it's "party feel", I think it sounds like standing outside a club, you can hear a beat, you can hear the whiff of a recogniseable tune but you can't actually discern a coherent tune. Two stars for the two decent tracks, the rest is noisy padding. Add a star if you like endless messing about with ... Read More:

This is one edgy album. Very unpredictable and fresh. I would recommend this to anyone who likes surreal funk that's a bit mad. Buy it otherwise your world will be too normal!
Release Date September 08, 1997
One of the many lesser bands to crack the States in the electronica “invasion” of 1997, this duo had the style label execs thought American audiences would eat up. It’s easy to see why, as BRA layers on heavy doses of rhythm and groove then toss odd, cheeky samples throughout. Fatboy Slim anyone?
Actually, they could take a lesson from label mate and fan-fav Slim; the man knows the importance of a hook. His tunes may be simpler, but they’re more infectious. BRA are stuck in the middle, developing tracks with twisting, lively basslines, fluctuating beats- and not much else.
They come close a few times, and get it right with “Let There Be Flutes,” thanks to, er, flutes, and “On Her Majesty’s ... Read More:

Brilliant! As somebody else has said a reminder of how good music was in the early 1990's. Some lovely songs on here notably Autumn Leaves which also appears in French form as well. Lisa Stansfield good as well.
Release Date January 01, 2000
I own the vinyl(s) version of this, after buying it off my mate for a complete bargain (somehow). I got it home straight away and slammed it on the turntable and man it blew my head off. it has some really really awsome hip hop tracks and psycodelic breaks and beats. If you like your hiphop/beats you'll love this. i would defo recommend it to the hip hop heads out there, its a great compilation which consists of hours and hours of good quality music.
Release Date April 27, 1998
Ninja Tunes, Brilliant. Complilation albums, not at all brilliant.
Really this album's a four out of five, with plenty of tunes on there that would warrant a five out of five. It is, however, a compilation album. I may be irrationally prejudiced against compilations, but at least I'm honest about it!
Anyway, prejudices aside, if you do need an introduction to one of the world's finest and most eclectic record labels, then buy some Ninja Tunes material, I've not really encountered anything that's out and out bad from them. To be fair their compilations aren't bad, simply because of the wealth of musical talent that they've go to draw on, listen to the likes of Amon Tobin's 'Sordid,' DJ Food's 'The Crow' or 'Emerald Isle' by Up, Bustle & Out and you'll soon ... i heard aims track 'good disease' and thought i had to get more of that, so i got the album and listened to it solidly for about a month afterwards, it is unlike anything i have ever heard before. my favourite tracks are 'the force', 'demonique', 'true to hip hop' and 'aint got time to waste'. aim is criminally unknown.

I always look at the reviews on here and wonder what sort of a person actually bothers to write one (that'd be me from this moment on!) Life is too short to actually care what other people think of your taste in music. BUT this is nothing short of beautiful. I 'stumbled' over this album ages ago and it began a life long love of this band. To anyone who thinks this is souless electronica/break beat etc etc, listen to 'Finished Symphony'. If you still aren't moved by the pure beauty of this track, it's time for a full frontal labotomy and triple heart bypass. 'Epic' falls short as far as I'm concerned. If you are fortunate enough to take the chance and like what you hear, please check out their second album 'Morning Sci-Fi'- not as consistently good but 'True to form', 'Higher than a Skyscraper', ... I acquired this recording way back in '97 or so, right after its release. It was literally impossible to get in the United States, so I had to acquire a bootleg. I was not about to pay the $150 that people were paying for it on eBay, plus I had purchased almost all of Coldcut's (and other Ninja Tune) releases. As soon as it was re-released I purchased a real copy of it.
Fast forward to 2007. I still listen to this album very frequently. It's one of my all-time favorite mixes, and people aren't really doing these sorts of DJ sets anymore. Old school DnB, trance, big beat, etc. Seamlessly flows from one track to the next. This is a seminal recording, period.
