Is it just me or is this album a little well how can I pout it "a did of a rip of". What do I mean? Well don't get me wrong I am not a massive Cold Play fan, love some songs others OK, but when listening to some of these song I just feel I have heard them before, like "42" a bit of the Beatles/John Lennon? Sorry to be sad but 27 second in Imagine? did they just copy and paste that in.
Cemeteries of London well sorry but even though I like it, it smacks of a mix between Del-Amitri and well is that a bit of good old Chris de-Burgh's Ferryman in there too?
Life in Technicolor a pretty good song but a little Kenny Chesney. I can go on as some song have bits of Genesis in the 70's. Again I say I think the Album ... Read More:

I have to say I never thought Dennis could do a record like this one... yes I know I'm an idiot. But seriously, I am overblown by the feeling of these songs (Farewell my Friend, Time, End of Show), every song has the right element of surrounding sounds but never disturbing the greatness of the melodies and the amazing piano tracks.
Unbelievably he included funky songs (pacific ocean blue) in this album and they all fit together like a miracle or whatever you want to call it.
He blends the classic beach boys sound on a subtle way, with the Beatles creating an atmosphere making it very personal to listen to.
The tracks have aged marvelously, man I'm so psyched about this album! How stupid I was not to have it years ago!! This ... Read More:

In my earlier review of the first Raconteurs album, I said that I couldn't pick an outstanding track because they were all equally good. That effort was a solid and concise album - 10 short songs, plenty of ideas, and essentially it was veering towards pop rock. It sounded very different to The Raconteurs that I first heard at Leeds Festival in 2006. That band was awesome - big sound, tight performance, audacious musicianship... and I realise now that they must have been playing a lot of songs from this album, though it was clearly far from being released.
Consolers of the Lonely keeps a lot of the pop sensibilities that the earlier effort possessed (vocal harmonies, singalong choruses), but it is very much more rooted in traditional American rock ... Read More:

She has a great voice and when she does the jazzy stuff it's just right. Pity about the pop songs, they don't play to her strength. Given her age I think this young Australian is heading for big things. Stick to the jazzy stuff though. The single Sweet About Me is brilliant and really shows off the different tonal values of her voice. Album cover is terrible tough - lazy record company design. She needs to establish both a musical style (album's all over the place) and an identity. T-shirt and jeans puts her in a big pool of female singers.
A really good album but a few weak songs. She needs a better producer. Get it right and the next album will go gold.

AS A DEVOTEE OF ABBA I THINK THIS COLLECTION IS FIRST CLASS. ABBAS LYRICS ARE BRILLIANT, CATCHY, STORY TELLING SONGS WHICH FOR THE MOST PART STAND THE TEST OF TIME. OUTSTANDING TRACKS FOR ME FROM THIS COLLECTION WOULD BE SOS, THE NAME OF THE GAME, THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL ( AGNETHA AT HER MOST HEART WRENCHING) AND KNOWING ME KNOWING YOU. THIS COLLECTION CAN HOLD ITS HEAD UP AGAINST ANY OTHER.

This CD can change your day, your washing up, your chores and your mood into an all singing, all dancing feel good experience. It starts, no messing, straight in there, with Dancing Queen, surely one of the best dance floor fillers of all time. There's no dead wood on this album, all the old favourites are here: Chiquitita, Mamma Mia, Voulez Vous, Thank You For the Music and the beautifully written Winner Takes it All. I admire Benny and Bjorn so much as songwriters since not only do they produce perfect ageless pop songs (and there is such an art to it) but don't forget, their lyrics are written in their second language, not their first. Their talent amazes me and their music makes me feel grrrrreat. I defy anyone to play dancing queen and stand still and not feel ... Read More:
When I first heard 'She's So Lovely' I honestly thought I was going to scream. The fact that their pointless and repetative songs are played over and over again on the radio drives me crazy. Their singles, 'She's So Lovely', 'Heartbeat', 'Its Not About You' and 'Elvis Aint Dead' all sound so similar that when I hear them, I struggle to work out which one is which!

Yes, of course, most album reviews on Amazon are positive, and much of the rest are from people crying 'sell out'.
Well, for what 42 years on the planet and a first ever Amazon review are worth, this is one of those very very rare albums that takes music to a new level, that even on first listening you know will live on, not necessarily defining an era, but being forever known and rediscovered. It's that good.
With the possible exception of 'Caravan Girls', nothing on this album is weak or forced - it experiments, disturbs and delights whilst at all times demonstrating an utter mastery of the craft of beautiful song writing. And underneath all of that, there remains the slightly disturbed aura of Felt Mountain that led to it being the soundtrack ... Read More:

I have just got the box set recently, and have been enjoying it greatly. Not just that, my three daughters aged 9, 6 and 2 are great fans, and want to listen to it all the time in the car. And the two-year-old even says 'Rock' once she hears the first few bars of 'We will rock you'. Just goes on to show that Queen truly made ageless music, which still scores far above most contemporary music.
