As the other reviewer said, if you liked Peter Gabriel's "Passion" you should get this. This album contains all of the source material which inspired Gabriel's own music, and PG himself produces this collection but doesn't appear on it. Nice background music, and a good companion volume to one of the greatest soundtracks of all time in my opinion.

If you love late 80's and early 90's grunge then i strongly recommend you should buy this album. It has a great selection of tracks from big bands such as Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees and the most important band in the world Nirvana etc. Sub Pop brings out its raw talent on its record label and it sounds so amazing.

Gosh, I remember this. It was a very timeous release in 1995, compiling a bunch of mostly indie guitar tunes right at the very height of britpop, and it is a pretty good britpop sampler. It has "Alright" by Supergrass, "Wake up Boo" by the Boo Radleys, and Edwyn Collins' "A Girl Like You", three of the most ubiquitous radio hits of the time. And "Whatever" by Oasis. Surprisingly however it does not have Pulp's "Common People" or anything by Sleeper.
There are britpop fellow travellers such as the Prodigy, Fluke and the Chemical Brothers, all of whom appeared on the soundtrack to the Playstation hit "Wipeout" and its sequel, and who were not indie guitar bands at all. There ... Read More:

There's no denying it, this album has everything for the discerning (and even the not-so-discerning) listener, from the classics that everyone should recognize, such as BTO's 'You ain't seen nothing yet', Thin Lizzy's 'The boys are back in town' (my personal favourite) and Steppenwolf's undeniably great 'Born to be wild', all the way up to the more modern classics, like G'n'R's 'Paradise City' and Stiltskin with 'Inside'. Even if you would never class yourself as a rock fan, this album has such an eclectic range of rock stylings, that there's bound to be something there that everyone will enjoy. You want something heavy? Try the Motorhead and Black Sabbath tracks at the end of disc one. You want something a bit lighter? Look no further than the ... Read More:

I bought this on the strength of the reviews here (and lets face it, it is damn cheap). It contains some good tracks and I guess it does live up to the title. I found the production somewhat dated and the drum and bass doesn't really rattle the speakers as I would expect. If you are looking for a better all round compilation, check out The Front Line box set which is still my favourite by far.
Release Date March 01, 1995
Those of us who like rock music will be familiar with most of the songs. Many of them occur on other similar compilation albums but there are also some lesser known ones. Different types of rock music are covered including punk and glam. Good versions of all songs are provided and sound quality is excellent. The album art is bright and colourful making the whole package very attractive. It is a pity that it is no longer in production.
