If you like some classic soul eg Marvin, Curtis, Aretha, Al Green etc then this is an essential purchase. Also if you like the quality end of modern RnB like Alicia Keys or John Legend then this is also essential. There are no bad tracks here. 'Living For The City' is probably the greatest of Stevie's social commentaries. Alot of listeners today don't appreciate how amazing Stevie Wonder was in his prime, I'm too young to have heard him during the 70s and if I hadn't just trusted all the platitudes I probably would never have discovered him!. I just thought of Stevie Wonder as being the guy who did 'I just Called To Say I Love You' but that was the end of the creative period. He's not that visible these days and hopefully his first European tour in over 10 ... Read More:

Have the vinyl. Now got the CD and its still timeless. I have many favourites. Love "I am singing" this sums up stevies life in music.
The song writing is 1st class. in my view far better than Lennon/Mccartney ever were. This guy does the lot himself. This album should be in every collection. best selling double album of all time, i believe. Well justified.

After the superb Music Of My Mind, Stevie kicks things into high gear here with Talking Book. This is one of those albums where an artist is at the top of their game and every song is great. If I was gonna skip one it would maybe be track 2 which does go on longer than it needs to, but who can argue with the quality of songs such as 'You Are The Sunshine Of My Life' , 'You And I', 'Big Brother', 'Tuesday Heartbreak', 'I Believe When I Fall In Love' and of course the mighty 'Superstition'. On this album Stevie shows he can produce beautiful ballads, great funk numbers and biting social commentary. If you get this album you'll have one of the greatest rnb/funk records ever recorded. Not bad for 3 or 4 quid!. Make sure you get the 2000 remaster, better sound quality. Get it ... Read More:

Although not regarded as one of Ross' finest albums, it has a mighty nostalgic kick for me as it was the first album I ever owned, and was bought for me by my grandmother for my 16th birthday in December 1971. I had previously bought the single I'm Still Waiting earlier in the year as it rocketed to #1 in the UK charts. It was the first single I ever bought with my own pocket money.
For me, Everything Is Everything is just that, Everything. I was captivated by the album, from the opening bars of My Place to the closing notes of Ross' cover of Bacharach's (They Long To Be) Close To You, and it would captivate me for many years until I lent it to an old girl friend who left it on the window sill in the hot summer sun of 1978. The result was a very warped and very unplayable record. ... Read More:

This album blew my mind when I first heard it 15 years or so ago. From the first to the last this album reaches the pinnacles that other artists just cannot. To think that it is over 30 years old to me it sounds fresher and more vital than most of the bland R&B that is being offered up today. Also it's political message still blows me away.
This album is so good that everyone should own it. Infact if you know someone who doesn't get them a copy. It would count as a genuine act of kindness on your part.

You cannot fit all of Marvin's hits on a single CD but this collection has most of the essentials. From a British perspective, one advantage that this has over the double CD (Very best of, which was compiled in America but released in both the UK and USA) is that it includes three UK top ten hits that are not on the double CD, these being Onion song (supposedly with Tammi Terrell, though Tammi was too ill to record the song and a sound-alike substituted), You are everything (with Diana Ross) and Abraham Martin and John (which was an American hit for Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, not Marvin Gaye).
There is no room on this CD to explore Marvin's career in depth, but it does contain all his important British hits (some minor hits have been omitted) and on that basis, it provides an ... Read More:

what can i say about this cd, its just a great 2 cd set to have. if this is not with the rest of your diana ross cd's ''why not'' you are missing a great album. it has every-thing you want and a whole lot more. get it now.
Release Date February 05, 2007
if you are starting to get into diana ross and the supremes then this is a cd for you. all the hits are on this album, (not all ) you will find that most of the tracks have been changed in some way, you need to listen to other hit cds to find this out. the only bad think i will say is the very last track, you keep me hanging on,this is not a very good dance version of the song. i have 7 version's of this song and they seem to have put the worst one on this cd, why dont they think first. but apart from that it is well worth the money and you will enjoy a few special moments on the cd, with the girls giving as allways there best.
