Having bought this album after hearing it playing in the hairdressers (!), I was not dissappointed. There are so many songs I recognised that I didn't even realise were Groove Armada's and there's a real mix of chill out songs along with dance/pop, so whatever mood you're in this album will give you a lift! I don't think this album will ever sound out-dated, it's great!

............and am purchasing replacement because I couldn't live without it. Play it any time of day. If I play it after bedtime reading to my 6yr old, without a doubt, they'll be asleep before the CD finishes! This album can lift you, relax you, whatever you need, it can do it. Definately in my top 10 and I haven't changed my mind since that first Moon Safari CD purchased many years ago!
If you like "Supernature", "Black Cherry", and "Seventh Tree", have "Felt Montain". Obviously it's the weakest out of the 4, though really relaxing and entres you into a total state of calm.

As with all who have felt compelled to add their thoughts on this amazing double CD, I too find it timeless and one of those rare collections you will never get tired of.
We often drive upto Wales (usually leave around 8pm and get to mid Ceredigian around midnight) and this collection, specially Part 1, is reserved for the last hour or so....nothing like rolling through the night to this sound :)
Hope everyone gets to experience these sounds....thanks to the Bear for recommending it :)

Some of Mobys' earlier work dates quite badly. This is not the case with Play it sounds just as fresh as it did all those years ago. This recording is like nothing you've heard before with chilling vocals and superb synths. When this came out it was like someone lit a fuse it seemed new people were "getting it" every week and it was THE album of the summer. You can listen to it now and it's just as moving as it always was. This will not date...

It's a real grower, this album. When I first listened to it, I couldn't see what the fuss was about, really. It sounded just like another chill-out CD, albeit better than the others. But after repeated listens, I started to appreciate how accomplished it was. The mix is so seamless that you can't work out where one track stops and another begins. Basically, if this is a chill-out CD, then it pretty much redefines the whole genre. This is not about loosely stringing together some nice tunes; this is about sounds, tempo, and rhythm. Normally with a review, I'd point out the good tracks, but in this case it's pretty much irrelevant here. The tunes picked by K&D merely help them achieve the tempo and rhythm they want. Each tune has been masterfully tweaked and re-engineered. It's dub, ... Read More:

Having never been to Cafe del Mar and never buying any previous CdM compilations I had anticipated the usual reworking of the well-know tracks present on the multiple chillout CDs now on sale. Thankfully I was completely wrong - this is by far the best of the genre compilations and is all new work from established and new artists. The blurb states that the album is new work from known favourite artists (CD 1) and compilations of new work from any artist who submitted tracks to the CdM website and was then voted on for inclusion by over 80,000 listeners (CD 2 & 3). There is a heap of great stuff on this compilation and many artists new to me who I plan to start exploring.
Perfect for warm summer evenings outside and also to drift off to any time with a few glasses of wine. Highly recommended.

Royksopp is a wonderful find, and in particular Melody A.M. The group have, and with great success, produced a collection of tracks with great continuity and, I must add, respect for their listener's ears. It is truly a delight to put on this record. Although the tracks can be soothing, and ideal for chill out, I thought a few allowed you to do anything but chill out. Poor Leno in particular is sexy, and creeps up on you when you're least expecting it.
Brilliant.
