I had the original of this on vinyl and was very pleased to find the CD has 2 extra songs.
Pure rock - no nonsense; truly wonderful, especially for driving.
If I could give a Spinal Tap-style 6 I would!
Release Date October 31, 1998
This compilation basically cherry-picks one track from each of Rory Gallagher's albums - and still manages to be an enjoyable listen in its own right. If you're already a fan of Gallagher then you probably have some of these tracks on the original albums, but this CD is a good way of picking up a selection of Rory's other work at a low price. If, on the other hand, you haven't heard much of Rory then this is an excellent place to start. Highlights for me are the almost-title-track 'Edged In Blue', the rocking 'Devil Made Me Do It' and the stomping John Lee Hooker-esque 'I Could've Had Religion' (taken from 1971's barnstorming 'Live In Europe' - I regard this as the album which introduced me to the blues). Every blues fan should have at ... Read More:

Once in a while you discover an album that is everything you love about guitar driven rock. This album has it all.The twin guitar assault with great tunes recorded live far out do the studio recordings of the the band. Definetly recommended.
Release Date July 12, 1999
'Live at Woodstock' is a great showcase of Jimi playing live. This was the first outing with this line up and you can tell in the freshness and rawness of the music. The best way to describe it would be loose, the playing is very loose and free and different to other Hendirx live albums i've heard. As a kid I never really 'got' the Woodstock version of 'The Star Spangled Banner', but as i've gotten older and definitely hearing it in context with the complete concert, I really understand the power behind taking a traditional, sacred (to Americans) piece of national music, deconstructing it and then rebuilding it in a new and mind blowing way. You'd have to hear it to see what I mean. This is a great performance and shows Jimi's unique and moving ... Read More:

Band of Gypsys has always been my favourite Hendrix album, and this expanded set from the same performances at the Filmore is even better. The sound quality is spot on and the rhythm section of Buddy Miles and Billy Cox keep Hendrix grounded and yet give him more space in a way that The Experience never did. Stunning, beautiful, powerful. One of the finest live performances ever recorded.

Clapton maintains a consistency with August. Better than Journeyman..much better when you listen to Behind the Mask and Walk Away. Whilst writing these reviews, I've just realized that I'm lucky to listen to such memorable tunes; the titles of which I cannot think of in other situations. Another song reaches Divine Heights 'Holy Mother'. Never knew Clapton had such a range.
A Gem definitely albeit a bit flawed.

It's a tired and mundane album overall saved only from total anonymity by the cover of Knock on Wood. The Collins influence is obvious in the very 80s drum sound and glossy production but it's shallow and ultimitely unfulfilling. Clapton mostly sounds like he's going through the motions and the album has a "contractual obligation" feel about it. It's not raw enough to be blues and not slick enough to be pop. How many times have you heard Forever Man played on the radio lately?
Buy this only if you desperately need it to complete your Clapton collection.

Who else could it be. The usual mix of up tempo and slow numbers with Declan, a track that brings tears to the eyes and a blues that makes you wonder why most guitarists even bother.
If you like guitar music and you haven't got this one be good to yourself.
Release Date April 21, 2003
I am delighted to report that this is a genuine Yardbirds album. For the sake of beefing up the band that has only Jim McCarty and Chris Dreja from the original line-up they have brought in some guitar heroes to guest on odd track, including the genuine Yardbirds guitar hero Jeff Beck on My Blind Life. The others include:
Joe Satriani on The Train Kept A Rollin'
Steve Vai on Shape of Things
Slash on Over, Under, Sideways, Down
Brian May on Mr. You're a Better Man Than I
These guests beef up the sound for sure but there is plenty good guitar work from Gypie Mayo on the track with just the band, The balance of old and new songs is good, acknowledging the past whist embracing the present. This is not a simple cashing in exercise this is a band that ... Read More:

Manfred Mann's Earthband were in a purple patch in the late 70s and early 80s. Gone was the do wah diddy lightweight pop and in was synthesiser and guitar based rock. Chris Thompson on vocals is brilliant, he has the sort of voice that would sound good reading the phone book, but this is also a fine collection of songs.
Once again, Mann dipped into the Bob Dylan songbook, this time coming up with the melodic "you angel you". Don't kill it Carol is probably the most commercial song, but for me, the best tracks on the album are "angels at my gate" and the stand-out "waiting for the rain". Listen to angels at my gate and wonder if Peter Gabriel's 'Games Without Frontieres' might have been influenced by this track.
Unfortunately, releasing a light rock album with things like synths ... Read More:
