The Get Shorty soundtrack is about as good (and seriously cool) as a soundtrack gets. From Booker T and the MGs through to a set of great tracks from John Lurie, this is a must buy if you like a great bit of Jazz packed with style, attitude and more than a dose of funk. Buy it ... or be short...

One of Edna's favourite Irish CDs. Beautiful, romantic melodies back-to-back. You can play this for hours without getting bored. Can't recommend it highly enough!

SRV was without doubt one of the greatest guitar players and this tribute concert is just a joy to watch, with the likes of BB King, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Vaughan, Dr John, Robert Cray and others performing his music. Picture and sound quality is excellent throughout and all the players are at their peak for what is a stunning set. I stumbled across this dvd quite by chance when it was listed on Jimmy Vaughan's site - don't miss out too. Just a treat for any fan of the Blues or just good music!

I'm amazed that this CD has only had one review, as this is a great compilation. To me this vol 3 along with vol 7 is the best of the cafe del mar series. Easy listening and a harmonious mix with some piano music a la cafe style, some light techno, a few dance tracks, some ambient and some jazzy tunes.

The impressive array of musicians on this tribute album deliver the goods, although some interpretations are a bit bizarre, like Nigel Kennedy's violin dance on Fire. Robert Smith and The Cure's synth-driven version of Purple Haze is another strange one. These two tracks are certainly innovative but there's nothing of the master guitarist's spirit in them.
I Don't Live Today by Band of Gypsys, Paul Rodgers and Slash sound very authentic, and Chrissie Hynde's rendition of (Axis) Bold As Love is spectacular. I also like Eric Clapton's powerful interpretation of Stone Free. Another highlight is Third Stone From The Sun by Pat Metheny, an enjoyable jazz-funk take on the classic.
Some of Hendrix's more obscure songs are ... Read More:

I bought this CD originally back in '95....out of curiousity. I was blown away by the tunes on it. Its really good backgound music for a partying I reckon.
Like a plonker I lent it to someone who promptly lost it...denied it existed in fact...so with fond memorys in mind I searched here on Amazon and came up trumps:)
Ah the good times! I was doing a trade apprenticeship...and generally enjoying life then...funny how Music brings back those times.

I was given this album on tape years before I ever really listened to it. Only when my wife was dying from cancer did I start to listen to it (by then, on CD) - I suppose I was listening with her ears - for her. Now it stays with me as one of those compilations that defines her life and an era for me. It introduced me to Mary Black and Frances Black and, although I am no great lover of Irish music, the strength of their songs and their singing shines through. 'Talk to me while I'm listening' must touch all who know how little we listen to those we love and who love us. 'Trouble in the Fields' can move even a city man to tears and 'I can't make you love me' is an anthem for life. I have loved and hated these songs and they have brought me life ... Read More:
