This is great! There is not ONE song that isn't worth five stars. I have loved Van Morrison's music since the 60's & this compilation shows just how great a writer & performer he is. He might be a bit of a miserable sod most of the time, but I wasn't inviting him for dinner so that isn't a problem. Add this to your CD collection. You will love it.

who the hell listens to this dull, uninspiring excuse for music, it basically consists of a complete TW**!, wandering around strumming nonsensical 'happy' tunes about absolutely nothing, I just dont get it but I suppose its a measure of how completey inane and pointless the current music scene is.

Her checkerboard singles chart history has only warranted this one and only collection of Greatest Hits. However, it does not scan all of her hits! I hope that someday, this superstar has a box set of single mixes (Chapel Of Love, Married Men), 12" mixes (Strangers In The Night, Moonlight Dancing) and rare b-sides (Samedi Et Vendredi, Bang You're Dead)(to name a few) collection.

This set includes her mega hit classics The Rose to From A Distance, to the lesser known concert favorites Hello In There to Miss Otis Regrets.

The peaks of this third album soar higher than anything before or since from Roxy: Mother of Pearl,Song for Europe, Sunset, Just for You. But there is no getting away from the weaknesses, and this is the first Roxy album which showed the feet of clay which would stomp so ploddingly on later albums like Manifesto.
It is a crossroads album; Eno had left, and Ferry was now the tuxedo-wearing crooner of "Another Time, Another place".
The beautiful lyrics and perfect playing remained; but the humour and the fun had gone from Roxy. From now on, songs like "Psalm" would re-appear on each album which Ferry produced;as if he had to tackle serious themes to be taken as a serious artist.

I've never been one for the jazz themed white noise thrashouts so beloved of Mr Pierce, but always loved the droney cathedral rock of his earlier days (which I appreciate is just as unmusical to some ears - I absolutely love Pure Phase). Ladies and Gentlemen is undoubtedly his masterpiece (jazz themed white noise thrashouts notwithstanding), but why oh why did I not buy a second copy and keep the first fresh in its pill box?

Anyway, post L&G the work declined. Some decent stuff on Let it come down, but I didn't bother with Amazing Grace. This is a return to form. I agree wholeheartedly with the reviewer who said he might need a bit more inspiration when it comes to song titles, but the songs and music are back. I cannot stop listening to Death Take Your ... Weezer

Weezer were never a unique group, their blend of Kiss inspired tunes mixed with Beach Boys harmonies are true to the fact that they were nothing more four college/university friends putting together the music they loved. Of course their career has remained a storied one thanks to the awkwardness of River Cuomo's mindscape.

Although it was probably in a bad position when it was released back 1994, Weezer's self titled debut was and still remains their shining moment. Mostly famous for the Spike Jonze directed video for Buddy Holly and the incomparable Undone (Sweater Song), Weezer (or The Blue Album) is a blueprint (excuse the expression) in geekiness.

Roxy Music began life as a raucous, impossible-to-pin-down, rough, ready, post-modern and decidedly futuristic proposition; by the time of their last album, they'd become an entirely different band. Super-smooth, mature, elegant, streamlined and without a single note in the wrong place. I can imagine there may be some people who loved "Ladytron", "Editions of You" or "In Every Dream Home a Heartache" who refuse to have the time of day for Avalon, and vice versa. 10CC were huge in the mid to late 70's. Much like contemporaries ELO they were often overlooked by the more hybrow critics and dismissed as merely Beatles wannabe's. Whilst the Beatle comparisons cannot be denied messers, Godley, Creme, Gouldman and Stewart were an entirely more exciting prospect than Jeff Lynne's mob.
Lyrically erudite, musically inventive and all four band members possesed of great voices, 10cc peddled harmony drenched, hugely inventive powerpop and retro rock. At their best they were sublime - 'I'm Mandy, Fly Me', 'Life Is A Minestroni' and 'Rubber Bullets'. 'I'm Not In Love' may have been dulled by massive over exposure but it's still a great ballad and more than deserved it's number 1 position on both sides of the Atlantic.

The majority of items on this disc are the exact same as the
Eurythmics collection previously released and already a part of many Annie fan's collections.
The tracks are crisp and clear and the re-mastering is evident, Annie's voice front and centre, as it always was.
'I've got a life' - was new to me, I didn't find it as good as anything on the album 'Bare' and whilst powerfully sung I didn't feel it wasn't any new tack for the group.
'I saved the world today' - again, not as good as anything on 'Bare', you get the sense of a message perhaps lost, we know her music does have a lot of saving graces but the world?
Maybe I missed something there.
Some classic items here, 'Thorn in my side', 'Sweet dreams', 'Miracle of love' - to be fair though any fans already have these in their ... Read More:

This, the second Steely Dan album, is utterly essential - about as good as rock music gets. More than 35 years old, and still box fresh. Melodic but with a complexity and edge that see off any accusation that this is middle of the road soft rock. For this recording Becker and Fagen took complete control, through the writing and with Fagen taking over as the group's lead vocalist. Finally all the elements of the classic Dan sound are in place. The songs are carefully crafted with sophisticated jazz influenced arrangements, but at this stage in their career, Steely Dan are still first and foremost a rock'n'roll band.
