Yet another album that I can play over and over again without it getting boring. I know all of the songs by heart and yet I can listen to it any time. There is only one artist (and I can only emphasize the word ARTIST) who can do this, LEONARD COHEN. Without a doubt, his version of the traditional song LEAVING GREEN SLEEVES is the absolute highlight on this disc.

This collection is well put together and well packaged and it does all the right things. The only thing it does wrong is try to please all the people all the time.
Let's face it Genesis have been at least three different bands. It argueable that there have been more incarnations but let's agree on three for the sake of simplicity. The early work with Gabriel and Hackett that is an was of its time Trespass, Foxtrot et al up to Lamb Lies down. The early Collins singing days of Rutherford and Banks 'Then there were three' Wind & Wuthering when I think they did some excellent work. And then the Pop Band.
Perhaps I am simplyfying too much. The odd gem appears out of context of course, 'Duke' or parts of same I can cite as an obvious ... Read More:

I am no stranger to reviewing material by John Mayer and I know that sometimes I can come over as evangelical in my praise, but how else can you describe such an immense talent?
The SRV analogies are bound to resonate through other reviews, and I'm sure the talented Mr M would not baulk at the comparison. However, when a 'white man plays the blues', these analogies are all too easy to use and this takes away from the originality of John Mayer's skills as a songwriter. 'Stop This Train' is the most powerful song with the most simple delivery that I have heard, and is a song which, in its live format, I often find I'm too sensitive to listen to. I am fortunate to have seen him live on two occasions, but have only seen him perform this song on the first. ... Read More:

Bought this recently and it takes me right back to the early 70's when it was a 'must buy' album. It's been on my 'must get the CD' list for some time and on listening to it for the first time in almost 40 years, I'm still moved and amazed by it. As others have rightly said, it's a classic album, so there is no way I'm going to individually review each track - suffice to say that each is a gem in it's own right. On S and G, it's hard to describe just how unique Art Garfunkels voice is or how poignant Paul Simon's lyrics are, just play it, sing along and let your mind go back to those heady days!

Oh Gilbert! I really want to buy this CD. I love your music, and this seems like a great collection. BUT ... I won't buy it while it has such a tacky title and awful artwork. CDs are meant to bring pleasure to the listener and look great on the rack, but I'd have to hide this one in a dark cellar, as I'd be embarassed to have it on display. Please re-package it, and I promise you I'll be the first to buy a copy.

Music just does not get better than this. The friendship shines through and all the egos have been left at the door.Enough said.

This album contains some of Dylan's best songs, and alot of people seem to think that it's his best acoustic album. I have to say I disagree there, my favourite being 'another side', but this album has some great songs: there are protest songs such as 'a hard rain's a-gonna fall' (my favourite!) in which Dylan tells us about the hardships, poverty and injustice of the world with lyrics that paint almost horrific images in your mind, and 'oxford town', a short, very folky tune about racism in America, particularly in the south, and there are songs about lost friendships and love such as 'Bob Dylan's dream', 'corrina, corrina' and 'don't think twice, it's alright', plus bluesy comedies like 'Bob Dylan's blues' and 'I shall be free'. Yes, this album has a great scope, and if you want to buy ... Read More:

I'm probably going to enrage a few readers, but what a very poor album this is. And i'm not saying that because i'm any kind of champion of military intervention. The message is wholly laudable, but i found this album to be unbelievably..........lame. Neil's got a whole load of friends to help out on choir duties, and it sounds very amateurish. I almost regret having wasted the time on giving it a spin. (Sorry if i've caused offence to any big fans of this piece of work.)
