Watch the film, listen to the soundtrack and repeat until it all becomes clear. A stunning film with this fabulous record from Eddie Vedder.

Ever since "Picture Book" I've been waiting for Mick Hucknall to sing material like this - and now his voice is more mature it was worth waiting for. This is obviously where his heart lies and the integrity of the whole Tribute project is evident. The band used vintage instruments, and recorded in one room all together. The DVD shows Mick telling Bobby Bland how he influenced him from an early age, and the look on his face says it all - he's just a kid meeting his hero. It clearly means a lot to him when Bobby approves of this 21st century twist on his old songs.
And that's the point - to those who want to hear these songs just as Bobby did them, you'd better stick to the original recordings - but if you love Mick Hucknall's soulful style, ... Read More:

This release is ideal for die hard fans as well as those discovering the great lady for the first time. As an introduction to her work it does very well and should feature in any record collection, regardless of your preferred genre.

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.

As a Springsteen fan of over thirty years' standing, I was wary of this album. I am not the kind of fan who follows "their" artist, right or wrong, and after witnessing a live BBC broadcast of some of this material, I was not of a mind to purchase it. The concert had Springsteen and an entourage of fiddlers, led by E Street violinist Soozie Tyrell, being lauded by an audience of bearded, out of time clapping, ageing folkies and I simply could not reconcile the performer I saw on stage that night with the author of "Thunder Road", "Badlands" and "Jungleland" ! However, upon listening to this album, I have to swallow my pride and admit I was wrong in my preconceptions. This is a truly great musical and lyrical album, and great fun to boot !

To be honest, I did not think much of "Who Killed..." A couple of catchy pop tunes, for sure, but it was "bubble gum" music for the most part. This album remains true to the band's sense of having fun with their music, but it has a much more confident sound and the production is much improved. Touring the States with The Killers also seems to have rubbed off on how the band now sounds. Moreover, to their credit, the record again romps home in just over 40 minutes.
The themes are varied and frequently concern the more mundane aspects of life - the stress of taking public transport to work ("Tired of Hanging Around"), why good nights out always end in miserable hangovers the next day ("It's the Little Things We Do"), or getting over a relationship ("How Does ... one of the most overrated albums ever, not much that's memorable about it, good impression of jangly Byrds style 60's pop, couple of good songs, lots of attitude, nothing much more.
Release Date May 05, 2008
I just cannot relate to most of the other reviews. "About Time" was very good - but this does not feature one memorable track. I am a big Stevie Fan - right back to the Spencer Davies Group - brilliant musician and singer. However the guy has never been a great song writer - now and then he has teamed up with someone who pushed him on a bit - e.g. Will Jennings but the stuff here is really second rate. May be I am being a little hasty - I'll hang on to the disc, and keep playing it who knows - might grow on me. If you want some recent Stevie and don't already have it - buy "About Time" would be my advice.
