This delightful CD has become a favourite evening tranquilizer for mum and dad, as well as baby. The soft but rhythmic melodies sung in happy, gentle Brazilian Portugese seem to massage the temples and send us all off into peaceful slumber with up-turned mouths. We've even learnt some of the words and are on the way to teaching our baby son to count to a hundred sheep in Portuguese! I couldn't recommend this CD enough.Zzzzzzz.

A brilliant album for all ages

In many ways, this album is an oddity. First, it is a blues album. The blues are supposed to be about sadness and hard times, yet this a remarkably upbeat album, Second, it is a children's album, except that it may be better appreciated by adults. I have not played this album to children, so I can't say what today's children will make of this album.

There are some traditional children's songs here, including Skip to my Lou, Grey goose and Blue-tailed fly (Jimmy crack corn), but there are other songs which you are more likely to find on standard albums, including Swing low sweet chariot, Rock Island line, Cotton fields, John Henry and Midnight special.

Like Old Mother Hubbard in rap? Old King Cole, then? I personally don't. My son is OK with this compilation, though. I think our lives are whizzing along fast enough without hyper-paced nursery rhymes. The only medley I care for is the last one - it runs along at a comfortable pace.

My 1 year old son is a big fan of the tweenies "song times", so I bought this dvd expecting to have some of their songs (we are really glad you came, eentsy weentsy spider, 1 2 3 4 5 once I caught a fish alive...) to play in the car, but I did not find any of those in the album, plus my son does not like it at all.

I have just bought this for the second time (1st one got mutilated!). Normally I cannot stand the tweenies but this CD is really quite good, and much better than some of the rubbish childrens music you can buy. It even manages to get both my kids away from the telly and up and dancing together without any arguments!
