If you don't like Phil Collins then this is definitely not the soundtrack for you as he provides all of the vocals but his voice works really well with a score that proves Disney hasn't lost its touch with the music. Most Tarzan fans will instantly recognise 'You'll be in my Heart' and 'Strangers like Me'and in fact from looking at the track listing it might seem like this soundtrack has little more to offer. However, it is the instrumentals that link Disney's trademark power ballads together that really make this album.

I ordered this recording the other week. Disney is known for its award-winning soundtracks anyway (or it used to be until the 90s), but the soundtrack for The Little Mermaid has to be their best work. It's Alan Menken at his best.
Jodi Benson is absolutely gorgeous as Ariel. The most memorable songs have to be 'Part of Your World', 'Part of Your World Reprise' and 'Under the Sea'.
This may be obvious to some people, but the songs on this soundtrack are meant to stand by themselves, i.e. certain dialogues that are part of the songs in the movie may be missing here.
CD 1 definitely gets 5 stars from me!
As for CD 2, this one mainly features cover versions. Generally, I think there can't be enough cover versions of ... Read More:

This is the debut album from the pop cultural phenomenon with, amongst other things, its own star on the Hollywood walk of fame, THE SIMPSONS.
This album features 5 original Simpson's songs & 5 covers of classic blues songs, all sung in the inimitable Simpson's style.
1.DO THE BARTMAN - 5:11.
A number one hit co written by Michael Jackson!

A rockin' cover of Chuck Berry's song, featuring Bart Simpson and Buster Poindexter {David Johansen.}
3.BORN UNDER A BAD SIGN - 3:08.

This was back in the day when Disney were great: when the films had great stories to tell, when the characters were heroes and heriones and when the soundtracks had you singing along.
And this soundtrack really does make you sing (even if, like me, you're terrible). I mean, who in the English speaking world doesn't know at least the chorus to Colours Of The Wind?
But aside from being really catchy, Disney do what they did best and make sure that moral messages are conveyed throught he tracks too. Take Colours Of The Wind, for example. Lines like "You think the only people who are people are the people who look and think like you" really hammer home the message that Disney are getting at in this film, and it's not kiddies stuff, ... It's great, completely funny! In the first episode he destroys Mistys bike and I'm sure her anger all gives us a laugh. The first season was the best in my opinion, pokemon's going downhill now ever since they cut Misty out and changed the voices.

John Williams manages to keep building on a ever growing sucess! His latest addition to the chain of hit scores sits high as one of his best works to date. The soundtrack complements the film excellently, and stands just as greatly on its own.
The most rewarding track on the CD is Zam The Assasin and The Chase Through Coruscant. For all eleven minutes the tension is held and keeps building through William's trademark skill, dissonace. The inclusion of classic 'chase music' instruments like the bongo drums, various other percussion and an electric guitar, shows his ability to bring old fashioned styles into his own. Look back at Lalo Schifrin's work, a master of the funky chase music of the 60's and 70's. Williams' experimentation with ... Read More:

I bought this soundtrack just on impulse, and also to get the amount needed for free post and packing. And I have to say, I do not regret it. I have listened to this constantly ever since I got it. I had already got The Lion King cast recording, and it is one of my favourite Disney soundtracks ever. Beauty and the Beast is certainly another one at the top of the pile! It is a completely different style of music to Lion King, but just as good! I definitely recommend it!
