it is over 11 years since i bought this album. i listened to it a few times with no real hallelujah moments. then it clicked. i listened to the album as a whole, i listened to the album with the lyrics sheet open. and then it became the soundtrack for my summer. the memories associated with this album were brilliant but then so was the music. every track is unique, the lyrics are awesome, yorke's voice has at least 5 styles, the guitar play, cut up drums, soundscape are magical. i listened to the album again yesterday and it prompted this review. you must respect radiohead for not re writing the bends but creating something bigger and better. brilliant, absolutely brilliant

This is so mellow and dreamy. A perfect accompaniment to a 'deep' mood. Only don't listen to it whilst driving or operating heavy machinery as you'll probably find yourself falling asleep! Oh, and she has the most adorable chin cleft, not that it's evident just from listening to her singing, though. I think listening to this has cheered me up. It might work for you too!

This is one of the better places to go to start listening to the music of Journey. You get a good selection of tracks, which covers their most well known songs and a few others for good measure. The booklet folds out into a poster and the artwork is great. From tracks like 'Don't stop believing' to 'Who's crying now' you know you're on familiar ground and if you like 70's and 80's rock you can't really go wrong. If you want an introduction to this classic rock band then this is the place to go.

it is not even good to fall asleep with. Got on my nerves and never listen to it since. There are alot better albums of prominent composers...

Our kid's been bouncing up and down to the songs on this since we got this - I don't think I'll ever be able to get our DVD player back off her now!
The singalong versions of the songs and videos is a great touch - she knows pretty much all the words off by heart now. Best of all it gets her moving about rather than just sitting on the sofa all the time like so many other things on TV. Really good family stuff all-round.

I first heard this album back in the summer of 1982 and it sounds as good now as it did then. I was already familiar with For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) and I'd heard bits of Highway to Hell and Back in Black but this was what converted me. The songs on this album are infantile, puerile, barely adolescent... and absolutely brilliant.
From the crash-bang-thump intro to the swaggering title track to the fade out at the end of the distinctly sleazy and tasteless Squealer this is pure, unbridled rock'n'roll joy. The album is full to the brim with classic tracks: the sleazy Love at First Feel, the behind-the-bike-shed single-entendre-laden Big Balls, Rocker and Problem Child ("...and my mother hates me!") coming on like Chuck Berry's lovechild ... I have no idea how well the movie "The Commitments" actually did in the UK, but I saw it when it opened here in Denmark twelve or thirteen years ago, and the soundtrack was a huge hit, not least with people of my generation who usually didn't listen to 60s soul music (I was about 18 at the time).
This is a wonderful colletion of gritty soul and R&B with a bluesy edge, the arrangements, which include trumpet and two saxophones, are muscular but never overblown. Teenaged Joe Cocker-soundalike Andrew Strong is terrific on powerful soul stompers like "Mustang Sally", "In The Midnight Hour", and "Take Me To The River", and Angeline Ball and the predominantly female backing group share the lead vocals on equally great renditions of "Chain Of Fools" and "I Can't ... I remember listening to this when it came out, through earphones, the volume up very high and the lights turned out.....it scared the heck out of me!! Well, I was young and sensitive. Although there is seemingly very little of Miss Jones on this cd, her usual powerful vocal style still penetrates when it appears amongst the stunning effects from Trevor Horn. A couple of the tracks seem a little dated now but altogether still a fantastic collection of tracks, prose and mini-biography, the voice of Ian McShane is still goosepimply-rich and used to great effect.
I would think that true Grace Jones fans may be dissappointed with this cd, but I think that if it is the first one that you hear, as it was with me, and it then leads you on to the rest of her back ... Read More:

The long awaited Queen + Paul Rodgers studio album has totally surpassed my expectations. It's a high-quality piece of work and I enjoy listening a lot to tracks such as We Believe, Call Me, C-Lebrity or Time To Shine. I recommend it to all Queen fans and Paul Rodgers fans!

I live in Australia, and have just found through browsing websites the Doris Day christmas album on cd, and am so overcome with emotion as I feel I have just found the most amazing treasure. I have the original recorded album, which was handed down to me from my Father, I am 43 years old and the album is still in perfect condition, even though it is lovingly pulled out every christmas and played non stop while I do my christmas cooking....I place this album at the top of the list of must have christmas music to own....Doris Day has the most smoothest voices and there has never been another singer who can match her voice or make a song feel so real it brings you out in goosebumps....
