I loved all but one track on this CD...it is very rare to find an album with so many great songs. While they all share a similar tie to the techno mixed with hip-hop, the CD still boasts a vast array of different styles: fast, slow, heavy bass, masculine, feminine...I just can't say enough good things about the songs.
I think the people who will enjoy this CD the most are the ones who listened to techno in the 80s, but enjoy today's hip-hop just as much.
Before I bought this album, I bought Loose...after hearing both albums, I am convinced Timbaland will go down in history as one of the greatest producers that ever lived.
The original `Pure' album was released in 2003, and despite there now being a confusing number of variations of it (special edition, import, bonus tracks & bonus discs) there are basically two editions - the original single disc and this 2CD Special Edition which adds a bonus disc to the original one.
The songs are a mixture of classical, popular and traditional, with some highly original and unexpected choices such as `River of Dreams' which is a transcription of Vivaldi's lovely violin solo 'largo' from `The Four Seasons', and a powerful recording of `Benedictus' from the Karl Jenkins' album `The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace'.
The New Zealand traditionals, predictably chosen because of Hayley's origin ... Read More:

This is a clasical guitar album recorded by John Williams in his style of ultimate perfection. Don't confuse this with Flamenco Spanish guitar.
Release Date September 06, 1999
In my opinion, this is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. I first heard it in 1972 (after Starman had got into the charts) and never looked back - been a bowie fan ever since. Bowie's best album still. It contains classics such as Moonage Daydream and Suffragette City and the Spiders never sounded better. Every track is superb, even the oddly sounding 'It ain't easy' penned by Ron Davies (surely not the same Ron Davies who played for Southampton?. It also seems to have a very intimate feel to it, i.e. the production is so clear its almost like being in the studio with the musicians.
Says on the album sleeve 'To be played at maximum volume'- indeed it should, all across the land!
There are now many releases in the EMI 'Great Recordings of the Century' series, and this has to be one of the best I've heard.
The three pieces on this CD date from the 1960's and all have benefited from recent remastering.
The 'Cello Concerto' is a 1965 recording performed by Jacqueline du Pre (who else would you expect?) and remains today, more than 40 years on, the standard to which all other performances of this work are measured. I'm sure I am amongst many others who regret not having seen such a gifted musician play live. I've seen several performances of Elgar's cello concerto, and always find that the best are when the soloist totally immerses him/herself into the music and brings out the emotions from somewhere ... As I read the reviews from not only this wonderful CD but Eva's other ones I am struck by how unanimous the praise is for her. And then I look at the date of the reviews and I begin to worry and wonder. There does not seem to be any from the last five years. Right beside the reviews is an ad wondering what is wrong with young people who think Man Ray was a poisonous fish when he was an artist. Personally I think if Man Ray had thought about it he might have wanted to be Manta Ray as well. But I digress. Just as we are losing our capacity to recognize an artist who was working seventy years ago we are losing our ability to reach out to a recording artist who has been dead for only twelve years.
Surely there are younger listeners who are more concerned with quality ... Read More:

(this a review I worte back in 2005 and only found again recently)
this album rocks. period.
I understand how people can complain about it being more 'pop' than their older albums, with songs like Boulevard, and Wake me up when september ends, but come on, its still full of stuff that rocks! st. jimmy, give me novachaine, american idiot, jesus of suburbia! can you see the lieks of good charlotte doing these songs?
The album itself its amazing. Of course, I don't expect some people to be able to appreciate it for what it is. A story. A political statement. A damned good album.
Release Date February 24, 2000
For less than £4 this CD is well worth buying. The other reviewers who gave it 5 stars are not wrong. It does create a sense of peacefulness and calm.

This is wonderful - I bought it on the back of one of the Amazon recommendations (you know - other customers bought this when they bought that type of thing).
I love Damien Rice, Tom MaCrae and Nick Drake. This album is in danger of replacing all others as my favourite. On my second playing in a row, love the feeling of it, soooo mellow, oral chocolate.
Seriously considering using "Better" as my wedding anthem next year; yes, I know it's soppy and sentimental, but it did just make me cry.
Looking forward to getting "Feather and Stone" in the next day or so.

VERY NICE EASY TO LISTEN TO ALBUM DISPLAYING TRAITS OF JAZZ/BLUES IN ITS MILDEST FORMS-VERY NICE TO LISTEN TO FOR A RELAXING CHILL OUT HOUR OR IN THE CAR.
OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ALBUM
