Potential....a word written about various England sportsman..a gloriously English way to bury young talent...enough about sport....this is the Mystery Jets review!!!
After the chaotic sixties prog of their debut LP this is a major suprise, eighties synths, whip cracking snares and slap-bass tumble from the speakers alongside distorted piano chords....are the magpies at play??
But it works....again, these guys have the potential to be the best band on this island....,the melodies are strong enough to smother the smell of some opportunist musical snatch n grabs.
As a whole, this could a 4 star record but the faintly uprising change of musical direction doest seem completely sincere but by no means is this a ... Read More:

An all time classic album, often imitated, but never approached let alone surpassed. Zack's vocals are incredibly emotional, and the sheer tightness and funking musicality of the band is staggering (and that comes from a guy whos played in bands for 15 years himself.)
I loved this album to death fifteen years ago. Yet, when im teaching kids today and i put it on for them, it seems just as powerful for them as it was for me back then. Stunning.

Cohen made three classic albums with John Lissaeur at the helm: 1974's New Skin For The Old Ceremony, 1979's Recent Songs, but at the apex of these achievements stands 1984's Various Positions, in that it paved the way for a new audience to discover Leonard Cohen afresh. This wasn't done by just adding the odd synthesised drone here and there, for there is the same continuity of themes and musical genres threaded consistently through the works (compare New Skin's 'Why Don't You Try?' or 'I Tried To Leave You' alongside Recent Songs' 'Came So Far For Beauty' or 'The Smokey Life', i.e., and you'll find they sit naturally next to tracks like 'Hallelujah' or 'Coming Back To You', whereas 'Night Comes On' and 'If It Be Your Will' would not have sounded out ... Parachutes is still my favourit album from Coldplay. This album contributed to coldplays success with great songs Shivers, Yellow, High Speed, Everythings not lost. What can I say one of the best English bands ever.

I have this CD on constant repeat! The music is so varied but holds your attention every step of the way. Bocelli's voice is one you just have to fall in love with. His "Romanza" is 1 of my favourites but "Vivo Per Lei" has me hooked also. GET THIS CD!!!!!!

In a time when a lot of new music seems to be completely devoid of soul, melodies or meaning this album comes along, kicks you in the head and makes you remember just how beautiful and life-affirming music can be.
It's a concept album about the life of the carmaker John DeLorean (he of the famous Back to the Future car), but quite frankly the subject doesn't matter at all when the music is this good, and I triple-guarantee this album will put a smile on your face and add an extra step to your walk.
The opening track reminds me of early 80s bombast so much and if I could fill my living room with dry ice and lasers to accompany it I would at the drop of a hat. There's also a slight Deus Ex theme feel to it too which appeals greatly. Boxers should ... Read More:

This is a great intro to new fans of Johnny Cash, a true icon whose music covered several generations.
When I first played it and the trumpets of Ring of Fire came on I wandered if I'd done the right thing ! The early tracks are pure 50s country, a complete contrast to the later U2/Depeche Mode covers/corroborations. There's something for everyone here but don't just buy it for the later stuff.
Cash has an amazing deep and warm voice, full of charisma and soul. It would have almost been worth being banged up in the notorious San Quentin to have seen him play live there. One of rock and roll's original bad boys, he lived his life and sang as he saw it.
For me and probably other non die-hard country fans, the later tracks probably have more appeal ... Read More:

First saw Seth Lakeman on Channel Five's "My Music". Thought he sounded great and not too folky. I bought Freedom Fields CD and thought it was excellent. Found out that he was gigging in Peterborough where I live so went with the wife to see him live. Thought he was excellent. The wife rated him 6 out of 10. Her tastes are West Life and Wet Wet Wet. I usually listen to bands like Coldplay, U2, The Doors, The Killers, The Strokes, Radio Head, REM, Take That etc but I like a song to tell a good story which Seth pulls off in his song writing. The only downside (LIVE)is his guitar playing brother in the band who doesn't look the part. He looked too wooden and is riding on his brother's success. I would recommend you buy this CD and go see Seth live. The crowd is so diverse with all ages. Don't ... Read More:
